The video doesnt work for some reason. These same MPs from Puntland voted to approve the constitution they are now saying it is null & void.
The problem with Somalia's parliament is that every vote is either anonymous or is a voice vote with a show of hands. This is great for the senators and MPs as they can vote and then turnaround and criticize their own policy. There is no record of how MPs voted when passing the first four chapters of the constitution on March 31st 2024. What we do know is that none of the 254 senators and MPs who were present voted against the amendment of the constitution. So any MPs from Puntland who were present and say they voted against it is a liar.

The question that comes to my mind is:
Why does the Somali parliament not have basic voting equipment that every other parliament in the world has? Why do we have no idea how the MPs that represent us vote?
The answer is: MPs don't want to voting records that can be scrutinized. They want to be able to vote whichever way they want without being held to account by the people who selected them when they try to remain in their seat or when they try to run for higher office.
How can we not have a roll call vote for something as consequential as our constitution?
How it possible that an MP can be absent without excuse for the vote on the finalization of the constitution and not be censured or expelled? The federal parliament is not functioning and yet it is being tasked with important, destiny-defining decisions.
Watch the process of the passing of half of the constitution from 13:42 to 24:43
Is this process acceptable? Do they even know what they are voting for?
I knew the presidential election was secret ballot.
I think below pic was when constitution was changed it looks like they voted publically. It might be hard to track though if no footage available. But u right i think they just doucment yes, no and absent so hard to hold peopel accountable
the MPs probably got paid off by HSM. Then went back this week and got more money to flip flop. these folks add no value to country and each of their salaries is staggering 5k a month (275 mp +54 senators *5k = 19.7 million a year) and they still hungry for more bribes. There is no accountability and no fear in somalia so they do whatever they want. Would be good to see a leader put these people in their place but whole system corrupt and cash grab for most people
