In general, many misconstrue Article 108, for if one reads its provisions, for instance section (5), which provides:
a)
All government institutions must recognise Traditional Elders, and extend their support in executing their decisions. The Article was borne out of a
previous Article, which granted Issims and Ulammaa clear Powers, and stated they indeed were the ultimate Authority (Marjac), but has since been withdrawn, as both excused and recused themselves from the process, where subsequently section (5) was placed in its place, which still affords Issims indirect Powers and influence.
To instill balance and to further honour their recusal, section (3) of the said Article distances Issims & Ulammaa from engaging in politics.
In other words, they do have a say resolving dispute, including political disputes, as is the case now, and has been before.
