Puntland Local Election 2024

PEC holding their regular meeting. They look awfully young, green, if impressionable for my liking.

Guddoomiyaha guddiga doorashooyinka puntland (PEC) mudane, Hon. Fu'aad Adeer oo uu weheliyo guddoomiye kuxigeenka guddiga mudane, Axmed Maxamuud Cumar(kk) ayaa maanta shir guddoomiyey kulanka todobaadlaha ah ee guddiga.

Kulanka maanta ayaa ajendihiisu ahaa dhagaysiga warbixinta guddoonka ee la xiriirta:
a) kulamadii hay'adaha bahwadaagta guddiga,
b) dhammaystirka wadatashiga dhinacyada iyo
c) ka doodista soo saarista jadwalka shaqo ee guddiga.

A lack of understanding of parliamentary system is evident in their recommendation. From the recommendations, points (1) & (3) are sound, (2) & (4) are irrelevant.

With MPs being elected by political parties, then any party, which commands majority forms a government, and where no single party gains majority, then coalition is formed just like was observed in the District Council elections.

PEC is terribly inexperienced to drag us from this headache. They seem very young with no experience.

They think they are recommending some kind of middle ground, but this is foolish. If the population can elect 66 MPs, they can also elect the president and his VP.
Indeed, Jabiye is just playing both sides. Here is an important caveat, lost on the opposition, to bear in mind:
Current parliament's term ends on Jan 08th, therefore:
- Elections could be held between: No earlier than Nov. 8th, and no later than May 08. That is a plenty of time to organise elections.

-----------------------------
Article 42 re Elections, section (6) states:
The date for each election shall be determined by the Electoral Commission, but
a) It shall not be less than two (2) months nor,
b) More than four (4) months BEFORE the end of the period of the elected functionaries.

Deni and co don’t want 1M1V, he’s playing the waiting game as long as opposition is unorganized. He’s sabotaging the democratization process by appointing inexperienced and inadequate PEC. They should’ve already come up with a roadmap to elections. Deni should show us that he wants elections on time. 10 weeks is not a plenty of time. Campaigning should take at least 4 months.

I want to add: image how silly the opposition would look like if they were yelling from the sidelines while other parties were busy campaigning in the cities and villages. Who would’ve been even listening to Xasan Shite and co.
