Walaal, we are southerners too. I don’t agree with Puntland independence, but I don’t think it’s fair to wait around for the SFG to become an actual SFG. No one is stopping other federal states from doing the same.

It’s just Somalis have khadhaadh and don’t like to see others moving on while they choose to be stuck in a bad situation. Maybe these developments will push the SFG to do better and get its act together. The number one priority should be safety for people.

Sovereignty, independence, autonomy, it all boils down to doing whatever the hell you want.

The problem with a lot of Somalis is that they fixate on vocabulary and forget the essence of the message. The minister cited the Puntland constitution which states until Somalia gets its act together by creating a constitution, Puntland will act as a sovereign state. We've been running after the SFG leaders telling them to approve the constitution but to no avail. We will not sit idly by wating and hope for the miracle of some regions redeeming themselves.

Sovereign is the state of acting and conducting affairs on your own without any interference and having supreme power. The problem is Puntland is not the supreme power. The SFG is above Puntland. That's not to say Puntland cannot conduct it's own affairs, in fact you can but under a federal state system, like everyone else. No one should be having privileges greater than the other.

You are an autonomous federal state.

Again, no one is telling you to not conduct your own affairs. You can, but you must realise that you are not sovereign. It's a simple fact. Autonomy and sovereignty are apples and oranges.
