Depression Puntland will need years to recover from Gaas's mismanagement and the guy is an Economic Professor People in Puntland joke if that what education looks like than it is better not ti get education at all.

This just confirms what we all know. PL is so corrupt under gaas they can't afford to pay its security forces.

They have to resort to printing fake money causing the people to lose confidence in Somali shillings

and only the rich corrupt political class with American dollars have purchasing power.

With Paul Formosa continuing his tyranny in Bosaso port and ISIS/Alshabab weekly causing havoc,

our neighbor has a bleak future. This can only go on for so long.

I suggest they change course and impeach gaas before they collapse.

Absolutely someone must overthrow Gaas impeach ASAP . No wonder he happily integrated 2400 soldier into SNA so their salaries get paid by FGS.

Somali entities have a tendency to inflate their figures for various reasons (aid being one of them).

This table is from the world bank thread:

View attachment 35228

SL (incl all of sool & half of sanaag even though SL controlled western sanaag is more densely populated) 673,263 + 1,242,003 + 721,363 + 327,428 + 272,062 = 3,236,119

PL (incl half of sanaag) 719,512 + 392,698 + 272,062 = 1,384,272

Yh, mudug isn't included in the table, but even if north mudug was taken to account SL's population would probably be double (or more) than PL's population.

Totally wrong. Badhan district alone is 238,855 out of Sanaag's 544,123. Ceerigabo district which is shared 50-50 is about 205,000 and Ceel Afweyne at 100,000. East Sanaag is without a doubt more populated than West Sanaag. North Mudug is 500,000 out of 730,000. Buhoodle district is 83,000. Puntland also controls much of Lascanood and Taleex districts.

Puntland ~ 2,100,000
Somaliland~3,025,000

Since the World Bank report the Issac have been scrambling for dirt now they are forced to find negatives where they don’t exist but like drakes hit album nothing was the same
May the almighty protect us from the evil eyes of the porcupine khat addicts. I wish this report was kept a secret sometimes but we all knew whats up for years now.

Flash new: not only Puntland is so broke they print out fake money, but ISIL faction around Bosasso is growing at alarming rates with Ali Salebaan taking the lead in bringing down the insolvent Bermuda triangle.

Abdulqader Mu’min (Darod/Majeerteen/Ali Salebaan): Emir of the ISIL faction, former spiritual head of Al-Shabaab Northeast (ASNE) in the Golis Mountains. Designated as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the U.S. Department of State in August 2016.8

Abdirahman Fahiye Isse Mohamud a.k.a. Ahmed Aden; Khalid; Yaqub; Burane (Darod/Harti/Deshishe): Deputy to Mu’min, second in command of the ISIL faction. Born in 1985 in Bosaso; former member of ASNE in the Golis Mountains. Identified by Puntland authorities as being the coordinator of the 23 May 2017 suicide bombing in Bosaso (see annex 2.5, strictly confidential).9

Mahad Moalim (Majeerteen/Ali Salebaan): cousin of Abdulqader Mu’min; previously reported to be Mu’min’s deputy; current role may relate to preaching (dawa). Former member of ASNE in the Golis Mountains.

Abdihakim Dhuqub (Majeerteen/Ali Salebaan/Ismail Ali): Senior leader, aged 50-55 years; involved in the creation in 2004 of the first Bosaso cell of Al-Itihaad al-Islamiya (AIAI), an ideological predecessor to Al-Shabaab.10 Former member of ASNE in the Golis Mountains.
(d) Abdiqani “Luqmaan” (Darod/Leelkase): Aged 25-30 years; lead commander in charge of military operations; former member of ASNE in the Golis Mountains.

(“Abu Hafsa” (Hawiye/Galjaal): Deputy of “Luqmaan”, aged approximately 30 years. Former member of Al-Shabaab from Hiran region; possible recruiter of fighters from southern Somalia in conjunction with an individual known as “Jabal”.

Hamza Farey (Darod/Majeerteen): head of preaching (dawa) and orientation. Former member of ASNE in the Golis Mountains.
Abdibasid a.k.a. Mukhtar (Majeerteen/Ali Salebaan): aged approximately 30 years, but younger looking; possible role involves intelligence gathering
and/or the procurement of weapons.

2. Other significant figures in the organization, identified through interviews with intelligence and security sources, as well as phone network analysis, include: Abdiweli Mohamed Aw-Yusuf “Walah” (Majeerteen/Ali Salebaan/Ismail Ali); Abshir Mahamoud Mire Mahamoud a.k.a. Abshir Gardhere; Jama Ismail Said Salah a.k.a Jama Dhere; Ahmed Omar Ali “Beerdhagax” (a suspected arms supplier); Abdirahman Yusuf Mahamud Adan; and Mohamed Bile Gash Yusuf (see annex 2.3, strictly confidential, for a mobile phone network analysis of the ISIL leadership).

Speaking of which, Cabdualahi Cabdi Xajii, one of the main leaders of Af-Urur incident was caught by Puntland. However, Gass the loony released him shortly afterwards. Little did he knew ina xaaji will be the driving force behind Afurur massacre.

16. At dawn on 8 June 2017, Al-Shabaab launched its deadliest conventional military attack ever in Puntland, overrunning the Afurur military base and killing approximately 60 Darawish (Puntland regular forces) soldiers. The incident marked the first major armed clash between Puntland forces and the Al-Shabaab North-East insurgency in the Golis mountains since Puntland’s major offensive of October 2014, which captured Galgala from the militants. Afurur, situated approximately 30 km south-west of the town of Galgala, had once served as a key waypoint along Al-Shabaab’s southern supply route into the Golis mountains, but had been occupied by Puntland forces since June 2015.

17. One of the leaders of the Afurur operation was Abdullahi Abdi Haji, also known as Mursal Madobe, a member of Al-Shabaab since 2006 (see S/2016/919, annex 1.5 (strictly confidential)). As detailed in the Monitoring Group’s report of 2016, Puntland authorities had arrested Haji in August 2015, but subsequently released him as part of a general amnesty granted to outwardly repentant Al-Shabaab members by President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali “Gass” (ibid.). Haji’s release was an example of the Puntland administration’s policy of “catch-and-release” with regard to Al-Shabaab suspects, which has been documented by the Monitoring Group since 2014

I truly think we have a larger population. I drove from Borama to Gaalkayo. The only populated cities I saw was Borama and Hargeisa. Berbera and Burco are overrated population wise, specially Berbera which was very empty.

As soon as we passed LasAnod I started seeing sizeable towns. Even Tuulo Jalam had more life than I expected, let alone Bacaadweyn, Burtinle and Xarfo.

I remember there was a UN census report, and PL had bigger population than SL. There was minister from SL calaacaling and he said the report gives distorted conclusions because their nomads were in the hawd when the counting took place :mjlol:

The fact that this conversation is even being had is amazing pre-1991 Puntland was virtually unpopulated with much of the ethnic Puntite population in the south while waqooyi galbeed was populated by its people.

Show me, I'll be waiting. Warabe said we will make our own census to prove Hargeisa is bigger than Mogadishu, he is no minister. Your president on the other hand dismissed UN report and proclaimed PL has population of 4+ million

Lets not get carried away with personal observations and stick to official figures and differentiate between census and surveys.

A lot of Somalis from that region would be murdered due to clan wars. I remember hearing people saying that puntland people need to leave Somalia for Arabia.

Have you forgotten this is a survey based estimation supplemented with satellite images??? No actuall census has been taken on the ground.

Going by the same report, South Mudug is Larger than north Mudug .Puntland section of the region has around 300k people.

Somaliland operates in Badhan district along with Puntland. You are desperate for claiming Buuhoodle, it is a no mans land, Khatumo -Somaliland - Puntland are all there with minimum authority.

If we are being honest, I'd say PL has around 1.5-1.8 million people max, while Somaliland is hovering around 3.2-3.7 million.
