Nooooooo!!!!!
Qatar has forced us on their side, if Saudi wasn't already angry at us, they are now. You think the Saudi camel riders will understand that we're neutral, they will kill us just for meeting the Qatar nicca.:jcoleno: Qatar knew this and has now got us to their side. :pacspit: To both of them, they want to bully us but I don't get it. Why not do this to Sudan or the other neutral countries, why us. We have absolutely no power. How can we help either. They confuse me. :kendrickcry:

'One of the mistakes which some political analysts make is to think their enemies should be our enemies. We have our own struggle. We are an independent organisation, with its own interests and policy. Our attitude towards any country is determined by the attitude of that country to our struggle'. Politics is not meant for everyone :wow:

Let Farmaajo memorise these sentences :wow:

I doubt that, but who knows what the future will bring.

Also why do the Saudis care to bug Somalia like this I mean isn't Oman neutral as well?

Nobody is neutral here, Oman and Algeria sent food to Qatar, Morocco decided to meddle between them. Sudan chose to Qatar side. However, the problem will be fixed soon. Simply (Qatar rejected to pay to trump like rest of gulf countries) but now she will have to pay.

It's a an ego thing. It has nothing to do with the national interest of the Saudi's but will give a Saudi diplomat or prince something to feel better about themselves after getting bored of beating all their servants half to death.

It's a geopolitical move to re-attain saudi dominance of the region.

Saudis think they're playing geopolitics but instead are playing into the hands of their competitors. Nothing they've ever done worked out for them. Their country has always been a mess and I doubt there will be a house of Saud in 50 years with oil revenues running out within 20 years.

Involving Somalia doesn't give them any brownie points in this current diplomatic spat. It actually risks their geo-political footing if a country weaker than Yemen ignores their demands.

The Saudis always buy arms from the U.S and they buy more than Qatar given to their size as a nation and to their spending powers, having said that, the $350 billion stated in that article you provided is highly exaggerated. Conservative estimates indicate the arms deal to be worth half than that. "... the sale of nearly $US110 billion — that's about $147 billion — worth of military equipment to Saudi Arabia that is effective immediately" over the next 10 years. Obama refused the arms sales because the Saudis insisted to be included the purchase of "of precision-guided munitions" which could be used against civilians in Yemen. Furthermore, Obama insisted the Saudis to slow down with their Salafi ideology incursion into the Third World and viewed the Brotherhood ideology less of an evil than the Wahhabi ideology. That is why Sissi of Egypt was a persona non-grata in Washington while he was president. Trump reversed this policy and aligned America with the Salafis and Sisi of Egypt. He sees them as stronger partners fighting ISIS than Qatar who has always pulled above it's weight within the region's politics and as a result became a thorn with their relationship with the other members of the GCC, mainly the Saudis. Soon, they will capitulate to the demands of the Saudis.

As for Somalia, this places us between a rock and a hard place as both sides are strongly counting us to be on their side. Turkey is pulling us towards Qatar.

Militarily and economically, the UAE has now a footing in both Puntland and Somaliland and with billions of $$$ more investments in both of these places by this block, they could create havoc for the Somali government. The worst scenario for Somalia could be if they encourage both Somaliland and Puntland to merge and create a new sovereign nation and sponsor their independence. The unintended consequences of this saga for Farmajo and the Somali government can be far greater. We are a Micky Mouse.

Lol MJ & Isaaq under one roof; wonder how long that will last.

I'm not denying that they could do real damage to Somalia but I was just pointing out that what they are doing with Somalia doesn't provide them with the Geo-political goals that they are after.

All their doing is taking control of a toddler (Somalia) and feeling pretty proud about it.

It is possible. Anger is an uncontrollable demon. If both Somaliland and Puntland are sold to such unity will improve their lot, it could be sold to their citizenry who are desperately seeking an economic and employment miracle. Culturally, they are pretty much closer to one another than to the rest of Somalia. Somalia offers the Saudi block a geo-politic and it is in Puntland and Somaliland along the Red sea which the Somali Central government has no control over it.

Sudan lawmakers want to support Qatar but their president said no. Pakistani pm is in saudi arabia now he might tip the balance.

The Red Sea can never be controlled by any of the countries surrounding it. The Brits and co built it and it's one of the reasons they are keeping a foot in Somalia.

I wouldn't mind a Puntland & Sland union (half a loaf is better than nothing) but we all know that will never happen without a lot of blood shed.

Pakistan already send 20, 000 of her army to Qatar.

Cannuck

Pakistani army has both legs in each camp but weren't prepared for this spat. Considering their strong military ties with the Saudi/UAE/Bahraini camp, t is understandable if they pull their troops out of Qatar.

If you mean the Suez Canal that the Brits and the French built, it has little or nothing to do with the control of the Red Sea and the only minor hiccup of its total control by the Saudi camp lies with Aferwerke of Eritrea who refused to cut ties with Qatar. To make matters more complex, his troops are fighting alongside the Saudis and the UAE in Yemen. He will favour them developing his ports.
