Gadaafi tried the pan African route, he is in the ground right now.

Why don't you include the part about Gaddafi supporting the IRA? He made himself a target by being so reckless; also, he made Libya vulnerable by inextricably marrying Libya's fate to his own -- like all self-centred dictators.

An institution (rather than individual) based political system would be significantly more difficult to demonise, isolate or attack; to this end, anti-Western rhetoric-speeches and military parades should not have featured at all.

Also, I never cared about Gaddafi; he previously said that Africa was the last place for the Arabs -- and that pointed to something very sinister.

And? I don't have any regard for the Northern part of Africa? The people there are almost entirely Eurasian; their entrenched, very negative perceptions of black Africans will not be helped by us rushing to embrace them when they generally have contempt for black Africa.

I would much rather we focus efforts on strengthening black Africa in political, economic, scientific-technological and military terms; we could establish purely transactional relations with the Maghreb + Egypt and engage them from a position of strength.

Yes, that's all well and truly good, however, the vast majority of the continent doesn't have such tender relations with the Arab world; I don't want to treat them with hostility, but I am in favour of indifference...

..I would even go so far as to advise against travelling to the Arab world (except Mecca) until we can completely reconfigure their estimations and perceptions of black Africans; it would take decades after the decision was made to rise from this revolting condition.

Power, strength and respect are all that matters in this world and black Africans are the only ones that don't understand this.
