Not really. Those Ayrab bootyclappers who joined ISIS & Al Shabab genuinely believe they are ganna get a harem of virgins and all the other perks of heaven when they die for their cause. They believe there is something greater on the other side. I can't say the same for these Europeans. However, both are foolish for risking death or even dying for war when they could have just been chilling like i am right now and enjoying life.

Putin is in a really bad spot. Sanctions up the wazoo which can cause a civil war/coup in Russia in a few months. He has painted himself into a corner. It wouldn't surprise me if he used one minor nuke on Western Ukraine to mess with everybody psychologically.

There is simply no way that Putin deploys a nuke against Ukraine -- his fraternal 'little Russians'; his regard for them is precisely why the Ukrainians have not been subject to the Grozny treatment...

..Russia has been treating the Ukrainians with velvet gloves, but that's about to change and we'll soon see the fall of multiple Ukrainian cities.

I think Putin wanted to limit the scope of this from the beginning, but the West was consistent in its refusal to make concessions, so escalations were made.

The Russians have been trying (since April 2008) to persuade the West to co-designate Ukraine a neutral State in which Ukraine could not be inducted into NATO or treated as a de facto NATO member by alternative means, but Russia's proposals were contemptuously dismissed and this is the root of the crisis.

I don't think it's tenable for Putin to install a puppet Government in Ukraine when the overwhelming majority of its populace are opposed to Russia.

I think the Russians will:

-Escalate the war

-Prevail after recalibrating their strategies and tactics

-Promise to withdraw if the West and Ukraine agree to neutral status.
