They have a strange fixation on anything which is a tomb from my understanding. Pyramids were a tomb/cemetery complex so it should be raised to the ground according to them.

I think you only mean the pyramids, and apart from them, Egypt was filled with hundreds if not thousands of temples and artifices, from the average looking ones to the giants massive statues. The sphinx was always there, but not touched. So why the pyramid incident was the only one?

The Sphinx was covered by the sand and it’s well known, plenty of pictures showing the excavation done by the Brits. When you walk out those sites, you will notice how steep the ground is so what does that tells you?

Yeah, they were left abandoned and plundered for 1000+ years and as a result sand dundes buried them overtime.

Luxor, Karnak and Horus temples were buried. Funny story, Muslims built Abu Haggaj mosque over the Luxor temple not knowing it was underneath until Europe discovered it.

The Luxor Temple was covered with sand for many centuries. It was not discovered until 1883 during drainage works. Currently, it is one of the main tourist attractions of Egypt.[

Like many other monuments in Egypt, Karnak was covered by sand up until a century ago.

one temple among hundreds?. Many were visible, in fact some where turned into churches, others defaced, but many still were there. Early Muslims were familiar with ancient Egyptian temples and hieroglyphs. One or two temples being buried don't make the rest in the same situation.

To be fair most of these things were buried under the sand by the time the Muslims conquered Egypt. They didn’t even know they existed. The Sphinx for example was recently discovered in the 20th century.

Keep in mind these things were already ancient by the time of the Caliphate. They were built thousands of years before Muslims ever step foot in Egypt. They were already ancient by the time of the Romans or Cleopatra.

What are you talking about? Ancient Egyptians did not worship the sun. They weren’t built polytheists, they had multiple gods and yes a sun god was among them.

But the pyramids were meant to be tombs for the Pharaoh to be buried in, on his way to the afterlife.

The purpose of the sphinx isn’t clear but I believe one theory is that they acted as a guardian to ward off evil. But the pyramids themselves are nothing more than grand tombs. Nobody worshipped a tomb lol.
