Should Somalia adopt confederalism ?

Yes it would be interesting to see it work with the clan system maybe we should adopt a constitutional republic like America so are country stays united and respects each others differences

A confederation is essentially a loose alliance of independent regions or states that keep most of their power but agree to work together on things like defense, trade, and foreign policy. Unlike a federal system where the central government has a lot of control, a confederation allows the regions to stay in charge of their own affairs while cooperating on national matters.

This means that Puntland, Khatumo, Jubaland etc, would get more freedom to govern themselves, but a central body would handle issues that affect everyoneβ€”like security and foreign relations. Each region would still make its own laws and policies, but they’d work together on things that need a united front.

A confederation could help manage Somalia’s clan divisions, giving each region more control while still keeping the country unified on major issues like defence and infrastructure. But we will still have issues pertaining national defence thanks to thugs like Culusow, who use the fake clannist, 'SNA' to attack Somalis instead of terrorism.

Best news of all;

The 'Capital' would likely rotate between regional capitals or be based somewhere that represents all regions equally. For example, Garowe (in Puntland) or Kismayo (in Jubaland) could play larger roles in national decision-making, depending on how the confederation is structured.

So, Mogadishu wouldn't necessarily be the sole capital in a confederation. It could still be a major city, but the authority would be more spread out, reflecting the decentralisation and autonomy of the regions.

1. These groups are not sovereign first of all, only the FGS is a sovereign government so why would they accept this deal as a permenant settlement? FGS can expect over time to get an edge over these regions even if it hasn't succeeded so far.

2. These groups are not allied at all rather they are competing and at war with eachother. They would never agree on shared defence like the original US confederation of (actual) sovereign colonies who had a shared defence interest against the British.

What you actually have is an attempt to create nations within the nation under the guise of federalism or even confederalism when they are actually in competition for land, resources, etc with eachother and the FGS. It's secession by stealth.

The trend is centralization. Southern federal states are at the mercy of Al-Shabab or Ethiopia/Kenya so once FGS clears away all those groups, they will be the masters of all the south.

The future of the country will a centralized Somalia + Puntland/Somaliland with a Hong Kong/Macau style system.

Tbh I think the future of Somalia is (or should be) centralism and for us to go back to the 18 administrative regions.. besides the root of all of our issues lie in our political culture, change in system won’t do much unless you change our culture first

I think Somaliland is the greatest proof of that (and Puntland to a lesser degree)

For you to say this with a straight face after the fresh JL fiasco is a joke :heh:

This is what Somaliland should’ve opted for lol. With each clan managing their own affairs but remaining apart of Somaliland, instead u lost half of the territories you claim
Somaliland was never part of Somalia to begin with. The South is far gone, we don't need them. We can run our own country without Somalia ever lifting a finger for us.

What would that literally change??? You guys are literally missing the point of the whole thing. All Somali leader are corrupt and need to go. No one over 35 should be leading a thing.
