The somali political class believe in corruption, unequal distribution of power and resources, business cartels and sabotaging locals efforts, they believe in auctioning off our lands and resources for pennies or to one up eachother they don’t believe in compromise, they don’t carry an ideology/political vision, they don’t believe in being pro-active or developing industries

left to their own devices they’ll have somalis running around with begging bowls the next five decades, and people here are suggesting giving them new states when the clan fiefdoms they’ve been entrusted with are still complete shitholes

Funny enough years ago I told an isaaq dude it was only a matter of time before harti and SL clash properly and they get chased out of eastern Sool and Sanaag. Told him Ceerigaabo would most likely turn out like Galkacyo at some point, with one admin managing one part of the city and another admin the other.

SNA would still exist as a Confederation makes the Federal Government focus on only defense and foreign affairs. Federal Government would be weaker than the FMS in a Confederation.

Tbh I think the future of Somalia is (or should be) centralism and for us to go back to the 18 administrative regions.. besides the root of all of our issues lie in our political culture, change in system won’t do much unless you change our culture first

I think Somaliland is the greatest proof of that (and Puntland to a lesser degree)

Nobody looks at the central government as a neutral body. It has no checks and balances everything is run by the executive.

The clan of the sitting president and ignorant gullible diaspora are the only ones who are bought in. People will always prefer their clan fiefdom over another so confederalism is the default.

The way Farmaajo was embraced by the public early on says otherwise. The somali people yearn for a strong central state IF it can deliver. The clan fiefdoms are

Why do you folks act as if JL is any better than the other Southern States when it is literally the FMS that hosts all Shabaab seniors, most of their troops as well as one full region under their control. It is literally under worse security situation than HS/GM. Nabe been ayaa leesyku sheegey.

And brining up Kismaayo port doesn't mean much. Xamar's port which is much more significant and controlled by HS/GM/Banaadir natives is connected to those serve and is connected to those states anyways.
