Something like EU would be good idea. Not merging the two countries.
somalia would be getting acces to Ethiopia agriculture and 100 mil labor force. We would put this mf to work and build factories and become China 2.0 somalia already has the resources and the ports.
essentially somalia would have all the economic activity. Meaning somalia will have all $$ and major say in everything in the region, like Germany.

exactly. how many replies are about not wanting xabeshis to rule. when was that the idea. this union will give us access to things we did not have before. the fertile land in Ethiopia can sustain the whole country and more efficiently. a 100 mil country gives us access to labour that can help build the country further. we will have more access to the red sea added to access to the Indian ocean which will make us a major trade player.
I suppose that making a union similar to the EU would be better idea than merging the countries. the Somali population would dislike the whole idea also.

It will be similar to the EU. we get 100 mil of manual labour and the fertile land of Ethiopia which can sustain the whole country more efficiently. also access to the red sea and can become a major trade player. all of these will develop our country by a lot. it benefits us

this is about the future. the Tigray issue will probably solve itself. Once every country stabilises (including Somalia) then this can be considered.
It won't happen. The ethiopians themselves would be against it. Annexing 12 million more somalis would make us one of the largest ethnic groups in the country and will create more problems to the habesha leadership

also who said anything about annexing. this whole thing is about joint unity. WILLING unity. the regions will be autonomous but the region benefiting from power and trade. somalis will be in charge of somalis. it'll be decentralised. like 4 different presidents representing the different regions with equal status and power. Joint capital will be Harar (pretty centralised with diversity and best choice) with minor capitals for each region (Xamar, Addis Abeba, Asmara, Djibouti City).
Federal republic of Somalia as a whole has about 12million people.
Why unite with others if you are going to be autonomous anyway? All federal countries have a central authority that is politically more powerful than federal states. Look at the US, they have a federal system with a strong central government.
If ethiopia and somalia united they would fight to decide who gets more power in the central federal government.
Somalia does not have 12 mil. it has 15 mil close to 16 mil. which Somalia are you even talking about.
this benefits us a lot. lots of labour because of the 100 mil Ethiopian population. access to red sea. fertile land which will increase food security. hydrothermal energy from lake tana. why shouldn't we unite? this seems like a very good thing
