It is factual that Yemen has been consuming khat for a very long time. In addition, the area in Somalia where it is widely consumed historically, is the North-West. Thus, if I assume it's from Yemenis, it's called an EDUCATED GUESS.

Khat has been known in Yemen for at least 1,500 years, to where it was probably introduced from Ethiopia, although this is uncertain. Arabic medical books from at least the 11th century record its healing properties and scarcity

Within Diridhaba it's 80% T for Somalis, Madawayne branch is known for assimilating other Somalis I wouldn't be surprised if he aligns with Hawiyes since Diridhaba isn't that far off the town of Erer, since Hawiyes and Dir are supposed to be brother, but share different haplogroups, we can assume this was one of the earlier confederations that cemented the Somali identity.
