In the time of Imam ahmad, the Adalites had leverage and deported ottoman forces from the horn to Yemen when Sultan Suleiman and Imam Ahmad Gurey got into a diplomatic dispute over what to do with the Portuguese generals remains. The ottomans wanted him to be sent to instanbul, but instead Imam ahmad defeated Cristovao da Gama and had him beheaded in Harar.

Do you think Somali president can do anything against even Turkish mercenaries? Let alone armies?

Ugly painting

The Ottomans really didn't play that big of a partnership with Adal as people make them out to. If you look closely at the sources from that period . Even in the war against Ethiopia/Abyssinia and Portugal.

They had more active and direct relationship with Ethiopia and the Eritrean coast instead.

Mark my words the Turks are going to enslave our government they already have been allowed to build a huge “embassy” palace right on the beach. They have soldiers stationed in Somalia, and own many businesses next they will be extracting resources for their own benefit.

Enslave kulaha your head is stuck in the middle ages.

Turkey is aiding Somalia in building their own military and navy , their soldiers are there to train local military troops and protect offshore exploration.
They don't own many businesses at all , they made investments which has opened up avenues for Somalis and built schools, hospitals and given scholarships.

And the offshore oil exploration is going to be controlled and managed by a Somali state owned company is where the resources are going to directly benefit the country and they even passed a petro law back in 2020 and created SPA Somali Petroleum Authority.

With that said , Turkey's presence in Somalia is most likely going to scale back immensly after Erdogan steps down. Erdogans government was defeated in local elections to a secular pro nationalist candidate

I thought that was obvious. The Ottomans had only conquered Yemen in 1539, a full decade after the Adal-Ethiopia war started. They barely had any idea what was going on in the Horn and by the time they gave support the Adalites had already conquered 2/3 of Ethiopia.

Oh yeah, what about the firearms and cannons? Didn't Adal import them from the Ottomans?
