Amoud and Hargeysa universities aren't two stories building but well functioning high education institutions and Hargeysa university recently partnered with Spanish university under Erasmus program https://www.ftlsomalia.com/eu-ambassador-to-somalia-visits-hargeisa-university/
The EU Ambassador paid a visit to the University of Hargeisa - University of Hargeisa

He was smoked by his own cousin Cali Caato and died weak and helpless. AUN Siyaad he was to soft he shouldve executed this menace while he had him imprisoned he had the chance but forgave him, his kindness killed him.
I agree but cut the old man some slack he was practically a zookeeper for 20 years the civil war was inevitable you cant rule Somalis collectively, Federalism is good.I do not agree with this. Siyaad's random executions and "disappearances" created the environment for a civil war.
The reason why Kenya did not fight amongst themselves is because their dictators had self-realisation that Siyaad did not have. Moi knew when to cut his losses and implemented democracy when it started getting risky.
Had Siyaad employed any objective advisers, they would have advised that the end of the Cold War was going to be the end of international support. Human Rights Watch already started blowing the whistle on the Kacaan by 1989. Instead he employed numerous sycophants that used the deteriorating situation to plunder national resources before the inevitable collapse.
The minute SNM and USC started making gains, he should've called them and arranged multi-party elections. In the event they won, he would have saved some dignity and let Aideed damage his own image without the romanticism of being a hero.
@mr steal your naag after relief workers came to Mogadishu to help people , @Woke1.4rm.Shibis couldn't help himself.
I hated that bengali dude since I was 9 for inviting xaaboosh in somaliaOnly a hawiye could celebrate Aidid and criticise Abdullahi yusuf in the same thread.
It's good we have many unvis instead of one and many of those have partnered with european turkish and asian unvisI know about both Amoud and Hargeisa. They're decent universities but they do not compete with the resources we had for SNU.
SNU received both private and public funding with many of its alumni going onto studying overseas at Harvard, Georgetown or Oxbridge. Abdiweli Gaas was able to study in Ivy league universities and Abdulqawi (current ICJ president) was able to study in Geneva with a SNU degree.
Furthermore, it had regular guest lecturers from Europe that specialised in course subjects. Imagine how good that university would be had the war not occurred.
The current Chinese ambassador to Somalia, Wei Hongtian, was a SNU alumni, becoming fluent in the Somali language.

Siad led a country for 21 years, mooryans like @Woke1.4rm.Shibis couldn't run it a day before murdering innocent people enmasse. Isaaq, Darood, Dir, Barwaani civilians were all massacred in their homes for no reason other then being from a clan. It was one of the reasons daroods in british Somaliland signed independence with Isaaq in 91.
The half southern bantus turned Mogadishu into a wasteland after only 1 year:
Just watch this video in 1992 to see how retarded reer @Galmudug-State is.
The more i read about somali history the more bizaare it seems, after reer @Galmudug-State killed off all the innocents they started fighting between each other for the hellhole they created. reer @Galmudug-State and reer @Jungle massacred each other in their homes until they had no more money to wage war.
If there's partnership yesLook, let me level with you.
I am not defending the decision to have one university pre-1991 but I would rather have one good university by African standards than numerous average ones.
Barely any student from a university back home is employable in the West or in MENA or in APAC.
Meanwhile, SNU had produced prominent international lawyers, economists, toxicologists and mathematicians.
Can a person from Amoud do a post-grad at Harvard with their undergraduate degree?
Ignore that murtad. Don't let him converse with us. His own qabiil would hang himFake news ,
USC protected issaqs , dir were allied with usc /aideed faction and barvanese didnt live in Mogadishu .
As for daroods nobody targetted them infact there are majerteens that still live in abdi aziiz and have been living there through out the war .
You can still find issaqs that lived there throughout the civil war and Ethiopian invasion .one famous issaq is the current upper house speaker

I hope to see you there when your tired of staring at rocks in sanaag
Caydiid was a militia leader, like a dozen other were. How do you expect him to single-handedly "make a dowlad", when he didn't even have total control of the USC?
That thought process is so moronic and so far removed from reality, it continues to surprise that me people resort to it.
Clearly not respected enough as every militia leader was hellbent on getting what he wanted. If he was so respected then why did so many of them, including Daroods, go out of their way with the bs Djibouti conference that illegitimately elected the useless Ali Mahdi. He was still a respected man at the time. Could have made alliances with Isaaq and Darood leaders and painted C/Mahdi as the cadow of Somalia. It's called politickin nigga
