Taliban capture Kabul as the President flees the country

it was an hot bag of craphole and most afghans were rural and isolated and poor under the commies save for a small percentage of the population. secular afghan government was suffering from rural rebellion. you cant bring communism/state secularism to 99% muslims its impossible unless through russian esque genocide. most of afghanistan was poor and rural under the commies.

The Afghans undoubtedly had sincere religious beliefs and profound commitments to them, but they weren't as radicalised and strident prior to Saudi Arabia pumping their Madrasas with Takfiri material and ideology.

Afghans and the Taliban are Deobandi Hanafis, they are not salafis. Likewise the taliban are a homegrown islamist group, they don’t share any ideology with Saudi Arabia. In fact, most Saudi Arabians and Salafis would condemn Afghanis/Taliban for their beliefs.

Nah it won’t. This is culture don’t you get it? It’s like Khaad to them.
Uhmm no remember Mullah Omar started the movement when the warlords were running the country where young boys were continuously raped by warlords and their soldiers and Taliban anti ape of young boys and warlords brought them to power where ordinary citizens supported them to bring peace and stability in the country.

Then why did they support their precursors? Salafists in Syria are celebrating as we speak, so they obviously don't give a toss about the granular details of difference.

Afghanistan was a cosmopolitan, secular Nation that guaranteed full rights to women and minorities when it was a Soviet satellite State.

The United States changed all of that when they trained and unleashed the 'Mujahideen' in order to give the Soviets their own Vietnam. Afghanistan is essentially a casualty of geopolitical contest and machinations.

The 'Mujahideen' (precursors to the Taliban) would not have triumphed if the United States, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia didn't provide them with funding, training, support and intelligence coordination.

Here's a little known fact...Israel created Hamas in order to weaken the Palestinian cause; scary-looking, screeching, foaming at the mouth, fanatical religious 'extremists' are so much easier to vilify; take away their humanity (and credibility) and you'll have all the justification to take their lives, their land and their dignity.

Iran would still be a secular Nation today if the United States and Britain didn't overthrow Mohammed Mosaddegh -- which ultimately paved the way for the 'Islamic Revolution'.
All what you said is bs and you should learn Afghan history instead of being ignorant.

Afghanistan even before soviet invasion was a feudal conservative nation or people where the central govt had no influence outside kabul city and when the communist coup happened and with the new communist new ideas of reforming the country wasn;t popular to rural afghans who started a jihad against the new regime which was about fall if the soviets didn't intervene and help prop up the communist regime.

Because the Taliban defeated NATO. Heck I’m sure even Russians are celebrating. And what relevance does that have to you saying that Afghans follow Saudi Arabian ideology who radicalised them when that’s clearly BS?

There's a difference between being a conservative and being an extremist. The two are not identical and shouldn't be treated as metonyms or synonyms.

Well Afghan people saw the communist regime and its ideas contrary to Islam and the leaders as kuffars so their jihad was justified

when the najibullah was toppled there was a civil war between the us-ksa-pakistan backed factions. taliban were started by refugees who fled the soviets to their fellow ethnic pashtuns in pakistan. they practically won the civil war in 1996 when they took kabul. in 2001 they controlled 90% of the country effectively making them the authority despite not being recognized. similar to mao zedong and taiwan.

afghan president taraki ASKED for soviet intervention. the people should not have had a commie government at all it was ridiculous. they arent turkic soviet peoples who accept russian brutalization and abuse.

faith trumps money and everything. this is why they won even though they didn't have good equipment and large budget.
They're nutters fighting against a corrupt army. It doesn't take much when the only thing standing in your way is American Air strikes.

I don’t know how anyone can blame the USA, sure they didn’t exit well but Afghanistan has had the USA sit there and babysit them for 20 years. 20 years to improve their country and they didn’t do so
