This Country is Full of Braindead People With No Pride Letting Any Youtuber in to Defame Them

This country has no pride, letting any YouTuber come in and trash talk it. One thing I admire about Somaliland is they would harass the hell out of these people at the airport and have national security follow them to make sure they speak well about the country or at least have someone review all their footage. But in Mogadishu, it's "welcome, welcome," then they hire a clueless, hungry tour guide to take them to ruined buildings so they can play the "war-torn" narrative, then by the seaside for the "pirates" story. I skipped through the video, even at the part where he interviews the guy in the thumbnail, and he completely mistranslates. We do it to ourselves if only we had a hint of pride like landers have this would have never happened

It's part of the ''Extreme Travel'' genre that has made recent trends where they purposefully go to parts of the word that is deemed dangerous , he was doing videos like that in Yemen and others.

They intentionally go to the war torn old broken or abandoned beach sides used as fishing grounds and ruined parts of Mogadishu and they bribe/pay people to take them there. To relive the dangerous experience, cap it off with the search of none existent pirates. They don't go the regular safer areas or the newly constructed and rebuilt parts of Mogadishu or even shopping districts either.

If he had gone to Somaliland or Puntland there would be no ''Extreme/ Dangerous Travel'' he could farm to an audience

Somaliland cares about image and having a good reputation and don't embarass themselves.

Somaliland need to change their name. Somalia don't know good image at all. There i said it.

The image should be concerning, Somaliland is not in a major conflict zone.

So the most important thing for Mogadishu and Somalia is stabilize and create better security and rebuild the country, the improvements and progress made will translate to a better coverage of it, people will flock to see how Somalia made a turn around and how much better it's become.

Iraq is a shithole yet I don't see them have a bad image constantly. I hate how talye deer/barkhad type of somalis show themselves and further embarass the somali name. why can't the ministry of somalia affairs showcase goodlooking somali to be next to these type of youtubers who visit somalia.

Iraq has a war torn image and they constantly mention it to disparage Muslims in general. Same with Afghanistan and other like Syra. I think what sets Somalia apart is really the past Piracy situation, which has really just captured peoples fascination and Barkhad and whomever that other guy is try to capitalize of it make themselves feel special and famous.

What i am saying is not wrong, a countries image will improve if the country itself improves and makes radical changes. We can't fake Southern Somalia and Mogadishu being safe and stable just to keep up appearances and maintain an image to the outside world. And people see right through it as well if we even attempted to.

It all starts with implementing real change , not being caught up and worried 24/7 about what foreigners have to say about us.

But we did attempt to have a good image couple of years ago which was working till the self deprecating lsoers and incels destroyed it. So your wrong.

You sound more like you fit the loser camp to me. All you do is just complain and spout doom & gloom. Defeatist mentality is what losers and incels all posses just like you do and they are hyper per-occupied with gaining the approvals and admiration's of others . They have no agenda of their own.

Somalia/Mogadishu is a war torn country that is in the process of rebuilding. Every country that has experienced war or collapse went through the same, but they spent time rebuilding and bringing each-other together to move beyond it.

Somalia should stablish a close connection with people from Rwanda. Rwanda is the only country that we can learn from how to comeback from brutal Civil War, and a clan division.

Chill out, I dont even think you watched the video. For a foreign youtuber looking for views it was an alright videos, one of the few videos that actually explained the situation of the civil war well. Only bad thing is he kept focusing on old somalia, like pirates, black hawk down and such. I blame some of this on the guides, but at the end of the day you can only ignore reality for so long. This is how our country is like, while some argue about qabil thousands of miles apart from each other.

You know what they have? A strong leader with strong institutions. Somalia lacks that.

Don't care Somalia is a failed state that has literally embarassed the name to no hope and I HATE how us landers share the same name with them, truth be told. And yes i care about image way more than you think. Who doesn't?
Don't act like Somaliland is a civilised place.

Lascanod massacre is enough to destroy your reputation

I don't know.
I had to return because I couldn't afford living as a refugee.
Most of the people who come back willingly are here for a short period of time and don't experience what it feels like to be stuck in nacalladaan.
You wouldn't afford to live a comfortably life in Somalia if thats case either. I feel for you.

But a lot that return are actually business people that have wealth & invest in the country and many are highly educated people

A desire to contribute to nation-building and improve the standards of universities within Somalia is luring Somali intellectuals to return home to work in academia.
“The diaspora returnees are bringing back knowledge skills, not only to the higher education sector but also the human capital needed for the social, political, and economic growth of the country,” he said.

But this process of return immigration is not always simple. Former ex-pats used to richer, more stable and liberal societies overseas are worried about what they will encounter culturally and security-wise. As a result, many returnees accept short-term positions to test the water before making a commitment to remain long-term.

It shows you that the security and the climate is improving enough for people to return. Which would have been impossible a few years back. Insha'allah thing will improve for the average reer Mogadishu in the coming years

Somalia does not care about you either. You can stay complaining and crying in each thread, like some failure.

Meanwhile Somalis and Somalia will progress forward.
