We have always been religious ‘extremists’ which why we got al shabaab. Siad barre made our extremism even worse when he went against the sharia and killed sheikhs.Somalis have always been fairly liberal tbh. The extremism we have today is as foreign as the extreme secularism, two imports from far away lands contradictory to our history, culture, and traditions.
imo there isn't any need for legislated secularism in an overwhelmingly homogeneous society such as ours, but I also think religion should be kept far away from politics because of the inherently dirty nature of the latter.
The culima should be concerned for our souls, not running for office. God knows Somalia needs real Islam, which emphasizes unity, community, justice, honesty, and fairness. Unfortunately Islam comes a distant second to the true religion of the masses, qabiil, which always takes precedence if we're being honest.
Our society is depraved and morally bankrupt, where rape, robbery, and murder are widespread, condoned, and can always be justified by the God of Qabiil. That should be our focus, not regulating skirt lengths.
