Not really. There was a strong belief that the FGS could just give Somaliland a shitty deal like Federalism and pay no additional cost but that's been disproven at least. Also that blue wave/revolution from 2022-2023 finally gone to so closer to practical discussion but not there yet. Not saying it will ever get there but closer than 12 months ago definitely. No one can pretend the FGS is in some position of inevitably taking charge which a lot of people were pushing.

Happy about what? Somaliland want's independence. I don't care if HSM embarasses himself by lying and saying no to negotiations then doing those negotiations, and then offering everything he said he didn't agree with before and begging Turkey to negotiate for him.

FGS can hold on but it will keep getting taxed because of failed politics. Someone is to blame obviously.

This MoU crisis was useful because it was a political expsoure of FGS weakness, can't be debated or hidden anymore.

I don't care about HSM or FGS. I want Somaliland Independence. If Ethiopia uses SL to tax Somalia is none of my business. It's actually useful means at some point, someone else will tax Somalia, sooner or later they won't pay and will just let Somaliland be recognized.

This type of rhetoric isn't old I'm sure, somalis have always been treated by most of the international community, especially our neighbours and fellow Muslim, as almost incapable of ruling ourselves in peace. Aside from somaliland of course but somaliland hasn't been recognised and isn't a country.
