Ali mahdi was a hotel owner, caydiid was the general who did all the fighting and liberating what exactly gave him(ali mahdi) the right? some odays voting for him cause of his clan, their was no election.
Caydiid did the running and ali mahdi tried running away with the trophy.

Cisman Cato was the brain and money behind the HG fraction, caydid thought he was running the show but he didn't know his place. When Cisman Cato discarded him, he died in an alley. Caydid was just a military guy who needed political guidance.

Nope, HG faction was securely under caydiids control Cato was purely a bussiness man and took the direction the wind was blowing (Mahdi Government had international support) he was a definition of a jew ''In its 2000 Country Report for Somalia, the U.S. Department of State asserted that the killing of Yusuf Tallan, a former general under the Barre regime, was connected to Osman Ali Atto "because of Atto's business deals in the north and the possibility of a deal between Somaliland President Egal and Atto in order to destablize the south."

an Alley? dude had an parade

But i do believe his son was far better than him in the political spectrum killing him only created a more powerful opponent in that time.

You're referring to a period after destruction and mayhem already took place. You're subconsciously saying what happened before USC fought each other in 1993 (third year of the civil car) wasn't the lowest point. In the end of 1991/beginning of 1992 there was already a famine in Bay and Bakool regions. But in your mind hawiye fighting each other was a point of no return and the rest was something that could be bridged. Their blood is water and yours is made of gold.

Do you think maybe he said that out of ignorance? Maybe he was only told parts of what happened (and that is due to qabil true) but it's not the same as knowing of other tradgedies and not caring about them.

For example I myself don't know much about civil war only thing I heard growing up is people we're killing eachother over qabil, even in your last post I'd never heard of the famines.

What is the exact point Somalia took a turn for the worse. I think it was when Caydiid went against Ali Mahdi's presidency. If he recognised him Somalia would've been able to have a stable enough government and army if they cooperated with SNM to destroy Morgan and other Siad Barre's cronies and avoid its current fate.

What do you think fucked up Somalia?
SNM had their own civil war.
Aideed (AUN) never betrayed SNM.

He was shot fighting Cato's men in a street battle in Mogadishu. Ask people, and they will tell you who was who in terms of leadership.

No, it's pure qabyaalad. I pointed his flawed reasoning in the first page but he still insists that the hawiye civil war was the point of no return.

Wallahi I have no idea what you're talking about. Since when did I mention hawiye at all. I created the thread to open a discussion to educate myself and see different viewpoints of what caused Somalia to be the way it is. So take that negativity and your hate somewhere else walaal. No attacking needed this is a discussion. Thank you.

I agree with you I want to know more about what happened that's why I asked for people to give their thoughts. But it's typical to get attacked for wanting to learn history SMH :kodaksmiley:

@embarassing You see, it's not ignorance but just his viewpoint. Ali Mahdi and Caydid, two murderous warlords fighting each other, after fighting other clans for nearly two years as a group, is for him the worst that has happened to Somalis :gucciwhat:

I never said that what's wrong with you. According to my previous knowledge they furthered the civil war. I am not aware of every detail of Somali history. Don't make assumptions and conclusions for me. If you like you can educate me after all this is a discussion but you should learn how to talk to people and not jump out at them. USC fighting each other isn't a good thing as I see or do you see it as a good thing?

So you think USC fighting each other is the reason why we are here?

He didn't say it's a good thing. He's surprised you would say it was the downfall after many other injustices took place.

No many things before and after starting with the Ethiopian war or even the Kacaan. After Siad Barre was ousted many atrocities occurred through Somalia that I am not 100% educated in that's why I've said time and again that this is a discussion not an attack at anyone. USC fighting isn't the only reason why we are here although that didn't help the situation :nvjpqts:

I only mentioned one thing that happened in the civil war. I purposely didn't mention everything I know to start a discussion. I could've talked about the Somali Galbeed war, SNM, Non-Hawiye Somalis being kicked out of xamar, Siad Barre's ousting etc. I did not discredit any injustices he merely jumped to a conclusion and I told him to discuss instead of attacking
