I drink, not regularly, never been with a bad crowd. I don’t get drunk (been drunk before).

It’s definitely good to stop when you’re overdoing it, and it can definitely put some people in the deep end.
Girl I stopped after the constant hangovers and bad decisions I kept making while drunk. I was the type to get wasted doing shot after shot until I was throwing up over balconies and in toilets lol. Another reason was the creeps who try to get some while you’re drunk.

I quit altogether because I’m not the type to handle alcohol. I would have kept going until something bad happened. It’s a good thing it’s out of my life.

Good decision sweetheart. You seem smart and the kind who learns from her mistakes. Good job. Next is to cut your previous drinking buddies loose. They can draw you back into the death game again.

Find new friends who don't drink.

I've never got drunk. I've tried drinking socially with my friends (mostly wine) and never liked it. Only other drink I've tried was vodka+lemonade. Would probably be open to trying other drinks but I'm also not a fan of drinking culture here

I don’t. I drink socially, or sometimes I’ve stolen a drink from a friend after a bad shift. I’m a lightweight. There’s a state between .5-1 drink, where I’m not drunk, nor even remotely tipsy, but buzzed. It feels good, but you’re not hungover the next day.

I have drank before to fill a void before, so I know what that feels like. I was drinking alone at home for a while after a sudden death. It’s when you’re always seeking it out and need it to not feel that you’re drinking to fill a void.

Salat can help with that aboowe/abaayo. You can stay off it.

Nothing is better than being sober, you can enjoy life, you can be social and have fun without drugs or alcohol. :)

Drinking make us more open to do what we really want, but afraid to do. No need to call those guys freak who took advantage of you.

Haven't drunk in ages. But when I used to I never liked drinking and just drunk to get drunk. But then I thought this is waste and haven't in years.

I've tried it once with friends, it was a experience. I had 6 to 7 shots of tequila With salt and lemon, it felt good but I didn't get drunk I was being careful cause I had to go home next. That was my last time and I have repented...

It was expensive too..our bill came up too $500

Sis I loved tequila. My friends and I would buy bottles from the liquor store all the time, it’s much cheaper than going out drinking. But how did you take that many shots?! Eight is way too much for me. I’m a major lightweight.

I don't know I was getting buzzed out and my reactions were slow I'd laugh so much but I was still aware of my surroundings. My body must be capable I guess :ftw9nwa: if I took more I'd be a reck. Fun times .

It’s Somali women who are usually social drinkers and murtads, I blame it on their need to fit in and weak integrity on their personal values.

I’m not even saying this to be self righteous, it’s simply an anecdotal observation of mine

Alhamdulilah my liver is too supreme to be exposed to alcohol. If I want a buzz I stay up and watch America's Most Wanted on Saturday nights in the safety of my parent's basement

I will admit that at some point in my life I was drinking. I ran with the wrong crowd but Alhamdulillah I have sworn off alcohol for the rest of my life. I realized how bad it is. It makes you reckless. I was getting into friend’s cars where the person driving had been drinking. I was meeting random shady people with my friends to drink. These people were also really creepy and tried taking advantage of us while drunk. I’m so thankful that I’ve seen how bad it is finally.

Somalis don’t really have a drinking culture. Has anyone else tried alcohol. It seems extremely taboo in our society for some reason, more so than other Muslim ethnicities.
How many cocks have you gobbled during your years of alcohol intoxication?

Yea, I understand the filling of the void trips people take to the liquor store. Same reason people do drugs and all kinds of things they feel fills the void in their hearts.

Death of a close person can be depressing too. If you can replace Alcohol with something else, like yoga, or the gym would be better.
I did that. The thing about alcohol is, so many times you actually find yourself swimming deeper into your emotions. At least for me. So it was horrible, but I was punishing myself too. I kinda wanted to stay in the misery, bc I didnt know how to deal with it. But that was situational. I don’t drink to fill a void. It’s social. I didn’t get addicted, bc I saw it happening and eventually dealt with it.

I think just as much people drink due to high pressure jobs than voids.
