Why are Somalis so adamant on not being seen as Arabs?

There are more Ethiopians who speak Arabic than Somalis and the majority Eritreans speak Arabic yet they don’t call themselves Arabs. The chance of Arabs finding one who speaks it is way high compared to Somalis.

Bruh we're the ones in the arab league and considered part of the arab world. You can hate arabs idc, but y'all need to stop throwing tantrums when Somalis are associated with them.

I’m on this Twitter page called Arab world and it showcases beautiful pictures and it posted a picture from Somalia and so many people responded saying we aren’t Arab. Mind you this page also posts Pakistan and chad as well before. Question I have to ask is what’s wrong with being seen as Arab? We have more cultural similarities with them and even our language is mostly Arab loan words. We are very similar and a lot of Somalis are living in Arab countries. You lot also don’t like being seen as black, so why not accept the Arab label?

To be honest, I agree. I don't like Somalis that go around claiming to be Arab, but Somalis tend to love isolating themselves from everyone else, whether it's other Africans, or Arabs. Stop trying to make enemies people. If someone is complimenting you, no point starting an argument over dumb shit.

exactly, every video or online thing that involves us there’s 10+ Somali comments. And I rarely see arabs jumping over trying to claim us, so what’s the reason so many Somalis online are dedicated to telling everyone we aren’t Arab?

either way, they are now powerful first world nations that have a seat at the world table. What African nation can compare? Libya has the highest literacy rate in Africa and syria is rebuilding their nation now after the war and I wouldn’t be surprised in a few years if they surpass African countries. The only legit fuckup is Yemen and that’s due to outside sources.

Most Lower Egyptians I've met had Madow hair like 3C - 4A.

Ironically tho the Upper Egyptians I know all had 2C or lower
