Why are Somalis so adamant on not being seen as Arabs?

Most cultures around North-East Africa and as well throught the Sahara regions are influenced from powerful Mid-Evil Middle Eastern Arab/Persian empires for many different time periods that persisted it's domain to spread long time foothold culturally.

Yep, and it was a gradual process. First only the wealthy traders learned Arabic, then they'd only hire people that also spoke Arabic which led to a linguistic shift.

What sahos are going to sudan for as refugees? they go to tigray most of them. and my entire family in eritrea the only ones who can speak arabic are the ones who went to saudi arabia to work there.

You just proved my point. Most of them fled to Sudan and the Middle East in large numbers during 30 years war of indepedence, that’s how the previous generation learned it before they instilled it on their kids who now speak Arabic.

Also, I’m pretty sure they still flee to Sudan today given the connection they have with the Sahos over there.

And when i’m talking about the lowland, i’m talking about the Tigre, Beni Amer, Bilen and the likes. They’re complete Arabic speakers.

i couldnt find any other one for free and it said nothing there abt arabic.

I’m on this Twitter page called Arab world and it showcases beautiful pictures and it posted a picture from Somalia and so many people responded saying we aren’t Arab. Mind you this page also posts Pakistan and chad as well before. Question I have to ask is what’s wrong with being seen as Arab? We have more cultural similarities with them and even our language is mostly Arab loan words. We are very similar and a lot of Somalis are living in Arab countries. You lot also don’t like being seen as black, so why not accept the Arab label?

If u saw how arabs treated somalis u wouldnt be posting this.. its so embarrassing whats so special about arabs i really wanna know?

The author is unbiased and he cleared everything up about each ethnic groups in the region. Unlike in mainstream history where it’s dominated by Eritrean Tigrais who tend to be biased.

Eritrea doesn't have a landownership system like Sudan, those animal herders are just the remaining nomads that aren't connected to the grid. That's why you don't have any developed cities like Kassala and Port Sudan in Eritrea. Just the dead colonial Italian cities like Asmara and Keren.

Highly unbiased and cleared everything up about each ethnic groups. You won't hear it in mainstream history because they're largely dominated and fabricated by Tigrinyas today.

The book gave me tears so it's worth it wallahi, you can bookmark it for later when you feel like you're ready. I've learned they're one of the oldest group in the Horns and were one of the earliest to confront their Abyssinian neighbors. How they and their Afar cousins have fallen...

Naturally using the suggestive power of religion of those at the time in charge demanding an integral language (from quranic arabic to developing working spoke dialects among the locals to read and write enough for the society connection.)
One spoken the Arabic language as a first tongue natively with adoption of Quranic customs would at an older point in the world would make one identify as an "Arabic" person [not necessarily though the same as ethnic arabs] which was not under racial heir at the time this world existed.
So for example an Indian, Black, and Jewish man all profess brotherhood under the Shahada swearing oaths to the religion followed by the Quran speaking it's language would make them all ethnically "Arabic" even though their nationality as blood still would be their own (The Indian an Dravidian, The Jewish man a Palestinian, the black being Somali e.t.c.) because at the time of the Quran's early connections the world was more integrated through religious assimilation.
So when a Somali merchant travels to Pakistan he would be welcomed as a Islamic brother with a mutual language & religion that they can use to bring to port (discuss, friendships, intermingle, business)

The modern world isn't this way anymore as more people in this day and age identify by "geographic ethnicity" but pieces of this has vowed continuation by many devout muslims may show these type of mannerisms of "not feeling separate" from others who hold their beliefs.
