Walaal, they have so many Arabic loanwords , it's intertwined with their Somali vocabulary so I highly doubt it's authenticity
General SomaliLahjadda WaqooyiForeign Loanwords
UkunBaydhبيض

FeeroKaawiyadderives from الكاوية
QaadoMalqacadالملعقة
CusboMilixملح
DooroDigaagدجاج
YaanyuurBisadderives from قطة
GaduudCasaanderives from أسمر
JeerWaqtiالوقت

And no neither is the Somali spoken in Mudug or Xamar 100% Somali but let's not get political right now
Is Casaan really an Arabic loanword? Canfar have a similar word for red. Dooro is an Abyssinian loanword btw

The extinct dialects of early Somalis
"Berisamadi hurre , waxn dafre har ya habeen, anigo gaashan dheere kujirre xoolihi anu ilaalye anso oliye nacabkega , nolosho barta haleegme "

Elegant , no sandnigger sounds and nowhere today's camel gushing sounds

To this current state of deterioration
The AF Somali spoken hundreds years ago and the one currently spoken are not mutually intelligible our ancestors would be disgraced seeing how this generation deformed backwards raped the language

"Waagi horre , maalin iyo habeyn ayaan difaac dheer ku jiray , anigo amaanka xoolahayga sugaya dabadeedna cadowgayga gubay , naftooda halkaas ku weeyeen."

And some say reer Waqooyi dialects are authentic been baa naaftada u sheegatay
Riyada badan ma ficno , there's no perfect dialect afka Soomaaliga suubana si fiican ayaa loo kufsaday waxay maraysaa bariga dhexe .

Kkkkkkkk
Hhhhhhhhhhh

I believe the new generation will also rape the Somali language

Yes dooro comes from Dorowet from Amharic , chickens were introduced to Somalis in the late 18th century .

So it's exceptional for words to describe alien things according that time

I love the waqooyi dialect and I understand it, however sometimes they can be a bit aggressive with their hands. You have to be prepared to take few pokes in a conversation:)
They have to prod and poke you like a surgeon to get their point across :mjlol:

Is it true that the northern dialect is "softer" than the southern, more poetic?

Or have I confused it with Mogadishu dialect that is said to be "feminine"?

He already exposed he's MJ from Bossaso.
MJ lmaoooo

@Hodan from HR It’s wrong to portray waqooyi dialect as using more Arabic loan words and southern dialect more original it’s actually more complex than that. There’s actually instances where there’s Arabic loan words in southern Somali that aren’t used in north. For example miiyi is more commonly used in the north whereas baadiye in the south with baadiye obviously being a loan word from the Arabic badawi or Bedouin in English.

I was not trying to compare which somali dialect uses more Arabic loan words but just wanted to address the fact that waqoyi accent is not 100% pure too.

If anything, I agree with what @Rastavelli-67 said about the AF Somali spoken hundreds years ago and the ones currently spoken not being mutually intelligible 🙃

Btw theres no single waqooyi accent and dialect and it doesn’t just belong to “Isaaq”. The main parts of Somali gableed and Djibouti also speak with the so called waqooyi accent but with slight differences.
Bosaaso and ceerigaabos are similar despite bosaso not being considered as waqooyi. Even Gabliey which is 60km from Hargeisa has more in common with Djibouti and Borama

@Rastavelli-67 You’re reaching with casaan and bisad. Also jeer is used in the north too. “ Had iyo jeer ” “ Imisa jeer”

Just like there are many variations between the waqooyi the same applies to the konfuur. In terms of more originality its hard to say truthfully because both dialects use foreign loanwords. But interms of intonation I noticed that reer waqooyi pronounce J as Ch. Is that common across the board? :hmm:

This pretty much laid down the facts concisely and impartially unlike whatever narrative @Rastavelli-67 is promoting over there. Thanks @Nabiil, you should contribute more often.
