Divorce has a lot to do with it, fathers don't get custody so they don't see their kids regardless if you marry 1 wife or 4.

it really doesn't. im strictly talking polygamy. not divorce. stop bringing up divorce

what about the other 9 months. 9 months the kid will go without spending time with their father. the wife will spend 9 months without the husband.

That’s what I’m saying. My dad was at every practice, every rehearsal, every game, every ceremony, parent teacher meeting, etc etc. Growing up. I’m shocked hearing that so many somalis have deadbeat dads cause my dad is amazing. Also @Snacks saying that 3 months per family per year is enough, how disgusting lol. Polygamy isn’t a big deal. If you don’t want your man to marry others besides you maybe you should put that in the marriage contract so he can agree to it. Polygamy has strict rules and regulations that need to be followed and I doubt your average man has the ability to deal with a second wife, so this isn’t a big issue.

When you look at the bigger picture though, polygamy is good for us long term. The more wives a man has, the better it is since he can impregnate 4 of his wives and the number of Muslims will increase faster. The more our numbers increase (especially in the West), the better.

They like bringing khadija and the prophet(pbuh) knowing well that khadija was a rich woman that married firstly a poor man that was her employee and that was very much younger than her and also contributed alot to the prophet's campaign. When she passed away he married the other women while he had nothing. Not even a joodari. They lkke talking abt his marriage with khadija, idolizing them and not the others that were still around even when he was poor with nothing to his name.
Now answer me this, will a 21st woman marry not only a broke dude but one that is 25 yrs her junior???

The way people go about polygamy is not correct especially somalis. A person should be financially stable before doing it and be able to treat the wives fairly i.e. fair with spending nights with them. But honestly polygamy is strong in our culture and most somali guys don’t want to be monogamous. There isn’t much we can do since the husband i heard doesn’t even need permission from his wife to take on a second.

Omar(ra) heard abt this and called his daughter Hafsa, telling her to not compare herself to aisha(ra) because the prophet(pbuh) loved her the most out of all of them and that if she even needed oil for her hair that she should go to umar(ra) and not her husband the prophet(pbuh).

The prophet got revelation abt the incident from Allah telling the prophet's wives that if they wanted the dunya and its pleasures that they should divorce the prophet and in return Allah will give them the pleasures of the dunya and that their lives will change.
When they heard this verse from the Quran, none of them came foward, they all chose the next world over the dunya.

Okay but he’s the Prophet (saw) and you lot are using him as an excuse to be bummy and broke and still expect women to accept it. Lol take a hike , comparing yourself to him like he’s the average man. Allah said that because he (saw) is the messenger of Allah and the reward of sticking with him and the deen is way greater than any worldly pleasures. That does not extend to regular men, hence the wives being told to ask for what they want from Umar (RA)

Muhammad PBUH did not marry a second wife until his first wife (Khadija RA) died. Also, I feel like one needs to be at a considerable level of wealth, in which re-marrying does not place financial strain, before they can consider re-marriage.

The prophet(saw) was poor. Can u explain yourself out of 'considerable wealth' considering the man in question was poor with no mattress?

If you want to marry multiple women, do it. Just make sure they’re all consenting and you can provide islamically for them all.
