I think what saved us is our suspicion of foreigners I remember reading how Somalis never allowed foreigners into the interior. Also the superiority complex Somalis once had.Arabs did migrate to Somalia, not in such large amounts seen in North Africa and Sudan but a fair amount of them did. It goes as far back as when Ibn Battuta talks about this in his travels where some Arabs and other Muslims sometimes come settling down in the cities for opportunities and learn the language and customs of the people, they basically become โSomalizedโ and werenโt subjecting their culture onto us.
Compared to other communities like Eritrea where you have people who have been there for 100s of years and still only speak Arabic.
