Arabs did migrate to Somalia, not in such large amounts seen in North Africa and Sudan but a fair amount of them did. It goes as far back as when Ibn Battuta talks about this in his travels where some Arabs and other Muslims sometimes come settling down in the cities for opportunities and learn the language and customs of the people, they basically become โ€œSomalizedโ€ and werenโ€™t subjecting their culture onto us.
I think what saved us is our suspicion of foreigners I remember reading how Somalis never allowed foreigners into the interior. Also the superiority complex Somalis once had.

Compared to other communities like Eritrea where you have people who have been there for 100s of years and still only speak Arabic.

If Adal had expanded beyond Suakin and the Nubian regions on Ethiopiaโ€™s border (and the Portuguese Empire hadnโ€™t intervened during the Futuh), it would instead of just raiding it, have fully conquered the Funj Sultanate and the linguistic make-up of Sudan would be very different today. Muslim Horn African expansion into medieval Sudan would have still Islamized them but they would have retained their ancient languages like the modern Cushites and Semites of the Horn without any pressure to adopt Arabic beyond religious purposes.
Even though Adal didnโ€™t officially conquer Nubia like how they did Abyssinia, they still launched devastating raids on the land of Nubia enslaving their people and pacifying the region.

Another big thing I think for us is that we almost exclusively converting our people to Islam, unlike regions in the Middle East, North Africa etc where it was mostly Arabs doing it, that was probably another big factor for Arabization.
