Even Arabs were idol worshippers before Islam. What makes Somalia any different?
Are there idol worshippers in Saudi Arabia today? What exactly happens if you leave Islam there? As bad as an Indian or Paki Muslim is treated there, what would happen if an Arab became a murtad?

Case closed.

Any sources for this?
Find me a mention of a Somali or a Somali clan before the advent of Islam. Even our own forefathers (Irir Samaale, Al Jeberti and Sheik Isaaq) came after the advent of Islam.

Language was likely only standardised and localised after the rise of Sultanates and Kingdoms.

Us as a people we are ancient. Us as Somalis we are no more than 1300-ish years old.

Yeah, yeah. But you're just adding to the claims. Provide some sources backing them up.

What exactly is your point? That Somalis should do everything Arabs do? "Oh look they're doing it so we should as well!"
That's childish.

My claims are widely known ones. First mention of a modern Somali people by name was the mention of Hawiye in Merca in the 11th or 12th century. There have been many other mentions in Mogadishu, Berbera, Zeylac etc of Somalis, though they were given the name Berber or Moor by the Europeans and Arabs

I'm on mobile so I can't be bothered to list individual sources, but you can just Google it and read for yourself. That's why I started this thread, as I found no evidence of the claims many people on here have made

These people like arguing for the sake of arguing sxb. Historians agree 500 AD was around when Somalis appeared in the horn.

The world in 200 BC. No Somalis just Cushites

The world in 50 AD. Not yet. Lots of Question marks

The world in 500 AD. Somalis appear outta nowhere. Too close to the time Islam was born.

I know Islam greatly shaped our culture but how can you deny that before the advent of Islam somalis were waaqists, and if you read the history it's pretty clear it's the same language, same culture
"The same language" is linguistically impossible. Languages evolve greatly over 1500 years, and Somali has gone through different scripts in the last 1000 or so of those years which complicates things even more.

And considering that the then "Somali" wasn't written or atleast written in a script comprehensible to us, how can you claim to know such?

If that joke is alluding to Evolution by natural selection then it highlights your ignorance on the subject.
Can't have a normal discussion without people getting in their feelings and derailing. Make your own thread if you wan't to have at it.

I'm not offended I can see the humour in the joke.

What's your point in making this thread horta I'm curious to know.

An Athiest Somali is still Somali. You might not like it, I might not like it, but it doesn't change the facts.
