It really does have everything to do with stingy. Not overspending and a man spending within his means is barakha but trying to go cheap as possible because women in Kenya get cheaper weddings because the cost of living is cheaper there shows a bad mentality. Those women are still getting a proper wedding with a hall, decorations and the like, but you can get more things for a cheaper price.
They aren’t asking for ridiculous stuff. The economy here is simply more expensive. They’re asking for the exact same thing as a Somali woman back home, it’s just easier for you to afford her demands as it’s cheaper there. But instead you want to attack Western girls and come across as a stingy man.
Also, Mehr isn’t a waste of money. It’s a woman’s security in Islam and is a marker of a man’s seriousness. Any man that says it’s a waste of money isn’t worth having children for. He isn’t serious and is only out for himself.
