While I would agree with you if she was a "regular" person, the problem is that she's a public figure and an elected representative who obtained that position nearly exclusively through Somali votes and emphasizing her "Muslimness". The optics of the first ever hijabi in Congress possibly having an affair with a white, Jewish man after establishing herself as someone who constantly attacks white men and makes comments that could be construed as anti-semitic is terrible. Reinforce this with women like AOC and Kamala Harris who also bash white men, yet share beds with them and you create a situation in which young women of colour think they need white men to succeed. Ilhan in particular also reinforces the notion that Muslim women secretly desire white, non-Muslim men, including married hijabis.

I am waiting for her to admitt to the affair. I think her ex must be happy to be free from constant bad press and insults. Her kids will also have a chance to live an anonymous life because of the split of their parents. Living under constant bad press is negative.

I think this(the family split) works well for all parties. As far as her politics go, she is doing what liberal and democratic voters expect their reps to do. Represent the voiceless and raise important issues relevant to the environment, race, gender equity, pay, refugees and american openness. These are the reasons majority white folks in her disctirct voted for her along with somalis who saw a daughter of theirs running for higher office. Sure, many are disappointed in her alleged behaviour and personal conduct as a muslim woman. They have the right to feel that way. With that said, every democrat whom people vote for from the disctrict will be doing the same thing Ilhan is doing now as far as politics go.

Ilhan will be voted in possibly again because people generally hate Trump and Conservatives for their racial animosity among other bad causes they advocate for.

I am holding onto my judgement untill there is clear proof or she personally admitts she had an affair whilst married. Even then, I would see it as a human failure not unique to Ilhan. Anyone can fall short of their religious obligations.

They also contributed greatly to science and humanities. In America, majority of them support racial equality and justice because they share a common future with other non-european americans in America.

Based on your line of argument, one can argue for the opposite and the Jewish people are inherently good because of members of their community having contributed greatly to the understanding of nature. If you point to someone's contribution and pin that to their ethnicity, then your method of judging people is not credible. Takes individual responsibility and for each human to be accountable for their sins/successes out of the window. People can do good or bad and that would not be because of their race or ethnicity.
