DNA is proving that Qabil identities are not necessarily mythical, they might be confederations though as assimilation is bound to happen among bigger subclans. I and other haplogroup T Dirs share a common ancestor in the relatively recent past as confirmed by the y-full test.

Dombira was not Dir according to our folk traditions, but a daughter of another branch of Aji, not the Dir Aji branch. Don't know where that claim came from. Nonetheless, a lot of our clan matriarchs were Darood, and vice versa according to tradition.

There are also Biimaals that are T, and other Dir subclans that have E-V32 among them, no one is disputing that. Just like the way there are probably a minority of Darood that are J and T. The only Somali sub clan that borders Afars are the Ciise's, so in order for them to invade Borama, they'd need to also invade the Ciise's which I sincerely doubt. Ciise's are the ones who are pushing into Afar land and are the ones who have reached the Awash river. But what would an Akisho aka Oromo know.

Not historically, the Adal Empire was more Afar than Somali if one was to be honest. We pushed them beyond Djibouti in the past 500 years, particularly the warrior Ciises.
