Always hate how emotional somalis get over what should be understood as political pragmatism. It happens that our interests align with Qatar for the moment, whereas wherever the UAE go, they follow the same pattern of supporting state fragmentation and setting up a state within a state they control (Libya, Sudan, etc ), in our case basically financing the MoU, Berbera corridor they seem to be abandoning in favor of Ethiopia, and playing FMS leaders off of the FGS.

The US is just shifting the responsibiltiy to the African Union. The issue is the African Union which has two part policy:
Colonial borders and/or the permission of the state being divided.
Somaliland has arguements for the first but it's hard to get passed the second the step. The FGS is beyond influence because it's power base is foreign money and troops and even if it collapses Somaliland still can't secede without a functioning government to release it.
So Ethiopia is breaking the diplomatic norms and we'll see where the chips fall. Some African countries have sympathy for Somaliland because she said 'a majority' not all. So Somaliland will have to settle for some partial recognition.
