Ethiopia has a very large marginalized muslim minority and as of now they mostly identify through their ethnic roots rather than through an Islamic one as somali did before AS. I think you're underestimating the Khawarijs because they know how to tap into the legitimate anger and hopeless felt by those by oppressed people(minority clans, ethnic or religious groups) and increase their own ranks. They rarely attack Ethiopia because the ethiopan security apparatus isn't qashin.

Vast majority of black folks prefer and stick with each other. We don't have any of the existential crisis your people do. Don't project the rampant interracialism of your community on the black community.
