To be real though I have actually gotten way better over the past three months
What I've started doing is just speak my butchered Somali to my parents and have then correct every single sentence. Then I just started slowly picking up some rules and committing words to memory.
Like I still suck at it but can kinda hold a bit of a convo.
I'm assuming if I keep struggling I'll eventually get it. I will not let this language die with me after thousands of years of linguistic evolution.
There's dust building up on my Somali man, it's restricted to waalidka and their lot y'know and I don't use it unless I'm roasting niggas.
My friends barely speak it, like I'll say something in Somali and these niggas spilling the beans.
I know that you know that I know that no one's going to type in the mother tongue bruv.
If not a separate section, we should do something like daily and/or weekly Somali language threads in the general section. Share online learning resources, teach each other, speak to each other and have the more fluent members correct the newbies mistakes. Each thread could cover a different topic or part of the language. What do you guys think of this idea?I think some people would just to flex
Same here bro. I've been reading an online dictionary for months and my spelling has become better, but it doesn't teach you syntax and proper sentence structure so I do a lot of guesswork when speaking Somali.
I think the biggest obstacle for me is speaking and writing. Reading is not a problem for me.
Don't give up sxb. You could always marry a xaliimo who speaks a1 Somali if you fail lol.
That's a major problem. Most of us don't speak Somali unless, it's with our parents. We need to revive the everyday use of our language and encourage youngsters to speak the language among themselves
We fucked up in Dixon man. We all spoke the language until the new batch came in the late 90s and assimilation was important.
Wallahi I wish one parent was strict with it

Let's make this place more than somewhere diaspora come to troll and shit talk each other in English.
If you look closely the only ones who speak it are the Eurotrash..Same thing happened to us, the eurotrash arrived in the early 2000s and they imported their øäē ways, suddenly nobody spoke Somali anymore...

Fine tuning aka buLLets to the sambabo.Btw the idea only works if peeps aren't embarrassed to throw their poor Somali in for fine tuning
We actually need to post to get corrected remember that
I was just playin' it's the same all across the board.I think it's a Birmingham thing uno, the eurotrash in Manny and London barely speak it
It should be a judgement free zone. Anyone should be able to come in and ask any questions they want, and be able to bust out their poor Somali for fine-tuning. Ideally the name calling would be clamped down on in that specific thread to foster a more productive learning environment.Btw the idea only works if peeps aren't embarrassed to throw their poor Somali in for fine tuning

Just...stop it.Learning starts with an L though
It starts with the L but you end up as a G if you survive like Curtis 'Konton Shilling' Jackson, G-G-G-G-G-G.Just...stop it.
Lol that kangaroo had the dog in a head lockNo such thing as judgment free with somalis we just gotta take our Ls like that kangaroo
