When i was a kid, in the late 90s, 2000 every somali kids in my neighborhood use to go to masjdi and learn Quran, by the age of 10 we all knew at least 15-20 surahs, girls were wearing hijab more simple before, not showing their awra ect.
And Somali parents use to be more strict, waayyy more strict.

Let's be honest. Somalia's not getting its act together any time soon so we can't complain. Folks can't act surprised when generations begin to assimilate to the society they are in over one they've never known. By the time Somalia gets its shit together there maybe whole generation of 4-6th gen somalis with whole different values. That's just what it means to be diaspora. Some folks lose their heritage and others cling onto it.
Ultimately their numbers will be low. Somalis are notoriously bull headed. We'll rot before we full assimilate but there will be a minority that will be lost. This is to be expected.

The opposite is true for Islam, the more the laws of Islam are applied completely the better and more religious the society is. That has been the case historically and Muslims with the entire world fighting Islam have remained resilient with all studies showing religious resurgence everywhere.
Liberals desperately point to Shia/Christian societies as an example of secularizing/liberal societies. Those are false religions so it is no wonder people leave it. Any Muslim society that shows liberal/secular tendencies on any meaningful scale is almost always some misguided group like Shia amongst them.
Never Sunni Muslims. We are becoming more committed to Islam, alhamdulilah.
Usually, when these diaspora prediction threads pop up, people misinterpret the question as "What do you hope the diaspora looks like in 20 years?" instead of actually making a prediction based on what's in front of them.
Super religious people insist that it's damn near impossible for the effects of secularism to reach their kids and weirdly optimistic ex-Muslim Somalis insist that at least half of the community will be gaal in only two generations.

Like I said, it shouldn't be a cause of alarm for a gaalo Somali to pop up in the West, it's to be expected.
And more to the point, most Somalis are dedicated to their diin and are taking more active measures to keep their kids religious (like those US charter schools you mentioned) and it seems to be working really well, so seeing one murtad Somali shouldn't send people into a tizzy, since there will be five or so Muslim Somalis for each one who apostasies.
Whether those five or so Muslims are practicing Sunni Islam the same proper way as us today or if they become liberal/progressive Muslims is anyone's guess.

A more serious topic should be how many Americans revert to Islam every Friday in US mosques. The UK now has the largest white Brittish Muslim converts too. The numbers will grow as Islam is ever more visible in the West due muslim Immigrants like Somalis practicing their religion in their majority, and influencing local cultures and governments.
In Minnesota, Mosques are in every neighbourhood nowadays. Many white converts too with their numbers growing.
I do in fact pull up Revert Stories on Youtube every time I feel my Iman is rusty to learn about and appreciate their struggle in finding Islam. They are indeed better muslims than I can ever be for the fact that Islam was handed to me through my parents without a thought and study.
Being irreligious is not something to brag about or to be considered something worthy of mention. It is the opposite of man's nature to live hapless in life, eat, work, have sex then rinse and repeat. This type of lifestyle is why many get depressed and seek thrills to fill the deep hole in their heart left by their lack of faith.
Pay attention to how these type of lost souls are immersed in music, games, and in some other hobbies to find happiness. You replace God in your heart, You MUST find Something else to fill the void and you will never be happy.
