I don't know the exact figure but according to Berbera Port Authority, it's about 80% of the state budget.
This year's budget was $295 mil!
What is the regulatory body that confirms the SL's govt annual budget? Not hating, just curious.

I don't think they like the fairer sex, you're more they're type. Little man who shakes it for them for ripping him off, you're the best kind to send to their hotels. Just don't get carried away so he beats you death when he's done with you. Ok?

Smh how is this necessary? Either contribute to the thread or gtfo. We're discussing business and the potential improvement of the lives of millions of Somalis. Stop the bs.

It's actually a good deal after doing a light research on similar deals done by Dubai Ports.

Djibouti received $400m over 20 years. Well done SL :dzmxmmb:

Was Berbera port at capacity? Over capacity? Under capacity? I doubt Silanyo and his administration even had this cross their mind.

Is there a demand for Berbera port expansion?

Berbera has the highest port fees and taxes in all of the Somali ports. Will these taxes and fees be going down after DP World takes control? Its cheaper to use ports from Djibouti, Kismayo, Bosaso and Mogadishu at the moment. There are many Somalilanders who go to Djibouti and Bosaso ports to receive or ship, especially those in the Eastern areas of SL (Bosaso port)

Ethiopia wanted 30 percent of its trade to go via Berbera by July last year, according to a five-year growth plan published in 2010. As much as 97 percent of shipments are still going through Djibouti because of problems with the capacity and condition of Berbera’s port, the poor state of roads to Ethiopia and the lack of international recognition for Somaliland’s statehood claims, said Ethiopia’s Transport Minister Workneh Gebeyehu.
