Will Puntland be completely desert in the future like the Sahara or Empty Quarter?
No, changing rain patterns in the next century as well as urbanization are favorable to Puntland. It has undergone rapid urbanization which is a huge problem if it is not tackled correctly. Due to environmental awareness Puntland together with the EU has been fighting land degradation particularly from grazing. The more people urbanize the better for the environment. The more Puntland's livestock industry becomes better managed with strict controls on grazing grounds the btter for the environment. There are pilot projects particularly in Bari where they are closing off valleys and within a few seasons the land returns to its former state.

This only works on the less educated ashy abdis who don't pay attention to the situation in PL and delusional MJ's here who believe they aren't as bad as xamar.Which is funny because xamar alone has double the population of PL and 100 times more companies and small businesses that create a lot of jobs and opportunities.

Like @Oday Sanaag said,Puntland has been debunking that report on a daily basis since its release by printing counterfeit money, soldiers and civil servants protesting due to lack of payments for months and tax isn't being collected.

Puntland doesn't even have any major companies nor small businesses to generate revenue and create jobs.So how is it even possible to have high GDP per capita this way?
The only explanation is that fake counterfeit money is being thrown around as aid combined with the money the diaspora sends back home for their families.

And finally the emphasis on education that has become the giant rug which puntlanders sweep all their problems under. The focus of their education isn't on technical skills nor training skilled labor but on formal education were the emphasis is put on academics and trade skills.Which is completely useless in Puntland's extremely underdeveloped market economy. There are no jobs waiting for them that need their acquired knowledge and they don't have the funds to set up businesses themselves. At the end of the day many of them become civil servants that burden the goverments small pockets and force it to print counterfeit money.

Dark times await Puntland which used to be the heart of Somalia’s pirate culture, but in 2016 the pirating business died for good and with it Puntland's economy.

If I was a PLander I'd v
How can Puntland attract SSC clans? They have a bigger representation in Puntland than in Somaliland and they get the top cabinet positions. How can you explain this irrational behaviour of SSC?

1. SSC doesn't exist, and never has . Sool and Sanaag have and will always be Somaliland.

2. They have bigger representation in Somaliland. Puntland is a state of Somalia. So not only would they take a backseat to MJs in Puntland but also to Hawiye and Marehan in Somalia. They get more power in Somaliland

And you can attract them by actually developing their land. Till this day Puntland hasn't even brought real development to its own cities. No major aiports. No major port.

Address what? That 1 world bank report has been debunked and exposed to oblivion. Your own courthouse in Garowe shut down last week because of lack of pay. Your own soldiers go on strike because of lack of pay. Xishood warya

Do al shabaab or ISIS pose a big threat in Puntland? Will they grow bigger and carry out attacks similar to the ones in Muqdisho?
No, they are isolated in the mountains. These groups are used by the Puntland administration for funding to equip our armed forces and hone the skills of our intelligence force. They are not a threat to Puntland, they are used as a prop. In post 9/11 to gain the favor and funding of these United States you must go with that narrative that you are fighting the global war on terror. It's a lazy cop out and stains the image of the nation of sand and sea.

Due to emphasis on education, education, education. Since Puntland's establishment a lot of the aid money it was granted came in the form of seminars, workshops and the like. Many of us believed this was useless and we should focus on acquiring infrastructure grants and loans but that was a short sighted vision. The education and sometimes reeducation of teachers, civil servants and young adults gave the older generation the knowledge and skills to pass to the younger ones. It gave them the tools to get a job or create a business. Other regions were too unstable to get this sort of development aid.

But what about Somaliland? Somaliland's aid was concentrated in a small part of its region namely the western region. The rest of the population which number according to the recent election around 40%+ were left to fend from themselves.

How come putland has the only ciidan who every few months take over the central bank due to no wages out of all the other federal states.??
That's not true. However there is corruption where some soldiers go without pay because the funds intended for them are paid to ghost employees. So those who were due to receive the funds protest but are usually paid.

What part of flawed report don't you understand? The author even admitted it in the report

Mr. Abdalla how come world bank doesn't release a report every single year with the same stats? Because it was an isolated event where a author was provided flawed data by a 3rd party.

That 1 world bank report flies in the face of the yearly UN Reports detailing Puntlands economic struggles such as the latest report that Puntlands budget was shrunk 50% from $92 million to $42 million for 2018.

The world has already known about Puntlands horrible economy and it's love for pirates and Terrorists for years before that 1 flawed and 1 of it's kind report came out.

I dare you to link me 1 other report that came to the same conclusions. I can link you 5 different UN reports on Pintlamds real economic problems and you won't like it

Are there any nice forests in puntland?
It has areas of woodland for example in the mountains of Bari and Sanaag as well as in Nugaal/northern Mudug. Puntland has low rainfall however when it rains, the region is colored green. There is vegetation but a lack of rain.

About 60% of Puntland is covered by sparse savannah woodlands, which are characterized by a ground grasses cover during the wet and dry seasons, with some trees interspersed. The Puntland savannas are open canopied habitats for the most part, forming an intermediate range between grasslands in Nugaal and forests in Sanaag. In general, as available moisture increases in the savannah system, so too does the density and complexity of the vegetation: the authors were able to note highly complex savannah systems in eastern Sanaag and pockets of Nugaal.

The report was literally comparing results from previous years.. a statistical pattern. They are trying to dismiss a report by reputable economists of the World Bank with "what company does your tribe own"...
