Ok haye,
And what renewable energy sources will they replace it with ? Don’t believe the hype.
The European Union and Japan will stop using gasoline in cars in 2035, and the whole world is turning to renewable energy
Even if it extracts oil, it will take years to be able to compete with the Gulf countries
and the land in Somalia does not belong to the Somali government but to the tribe that lives in it Oil extraction in Somalia will not work I assure you

Somalia is too late oil is becoming irrelevant in the global economy
Good thing we have a lot of uranium we can use the oil to boost our economy and from there our economy would be good enough to invest in uranium extraction and prepare it for export with the world becoming more electrical I just know that we will have a uranium boom similar to the oil boom In the 60's and we will become the new saudi Arabia being a major player to usher In the uranium age.

I feel like you are being too optimistic if we did have that high amount of potential oil reserves one of the heavy weights such as Shell, Exxon, Chevron would have explored the region not NPCs like Genel Energy and Coastline Exploration.
Maybe cause somalia was very unstable and riddled with pirates on the coast and maybe I don't know having one of the RICHEST terrorist organisation in the world operating there that possibly dettered them from making investments and help probe?

Oil will begin to decline in 2028, and most major countries are planning to stop using gasoline starting from 2035-2040. You are too late Somalis. Try something else.
Even Saudi Arabia is trying to get rid of dependence on oil, which is why they are building all these giant projects
You never want anything good for your people, inshallah SSC ans awdal will be integrated and will enjoy these riches while you live in your stagnant triangle but I also hope that after this your people see the wrongs of your way of thinking and join back and enjoy the riches to be made as well.

I wish development for all Somalis. But you cannot reject the facts

Those smaller companies are brokers who sell on the rights to the majors.

They buy the right for millions and sell for billions.

Yeah but let's be honest this does boost our economy and makes our circumstances way better we also have uranium and if we play our cards right we can invest in that and uranium will be one of the next major power sources of the world.

Those are the most developed countries on earth. Not every country will be able to transition to a renewable energy source.

With that said, while it won't be as good as the oil boom in the 70s and 80s, there will still be a high demand for oil in future. There is also the fact that Somalia has a lot of potential for wind energy so even if somehow oil won't make enough profit, we have our own sustainble energy source.

Oil makes plenty of other products that are essential for modern civilization. Unless we find better and cheaper (or at most 10x as expensive) products that can substitute plastics and other oil products then it’s not going anywhere. If we exploit our oil reserves + rely on our ever present wind energy, we will essentially have enough energy to sustain our selves and a lush foreign cash reserve to finance major infrastructure and industrial projects… then you wake up and realize the oil cartels will end up taking the bulk of the profits and leave us with at most $10-$20 a barrel

They said the same thing a decade ago, that narrative has been talked about for decades, Nothing will change. At least not for the foreseeable future. What “reliable” renewable energy sources are you referring too ? The fact of the matter is that there is no energy source as reliable and efficient as oil. Do you really believe the world will automatically switch over to green energy at the drop of a hat, we’d be having blackouts every few hours.

as for the rest of your statement, sounds like your a bit cut that Somalia is moving on and developing. Let me guess you’re a separatist that wants to see Somalia in a perpetual circle of violence, in order to further your own political ambitions. Get in line bud, we got a whole list of enemies that wish to see us fall again, your not special in that regard.

Unsure about the future with this. Somalia (180th) is one of the most corrupt countries in the world, much corrupt than Nigeria (145th), plus, Hoobyo and Galmadug in general is almost a lawless area. The money will be misappropriated 100%

Are the corruption rankings up to date?

I would be excited to see Somali tribes fighting over oil wells instead of water wells :mjlol:

I see oil as a curse and its days are over. We are talking about 2050. It is almost certain that most countries will stop relying on it.
What will happen in Somalia is either an increase in tribal conflicts due to disputes over land, or Somalia will become a country dependent on oil They do not care about agriculture or water. We now import almost everything. What will happen if oil is extracted? Laziness will rise , and do not forget the environmental pollution that it will cause. I personally don't want it in my area, I just want it to be green
