I see oil as a curse and its days are over. We are talking about 2050. It is almost certain that most countries will stop relying on it.
What will happen in Somalia is either an increase in tribal conflicts due to disputes over land, or Somalia will become a country dependent on oil They do not care about agriculture or water. We now import almost everything. What will happen if oil is extracted? Laziness will rise , and do not forget the environmental pollution that it will cause. I personally don't want it in my area, I just want it to be green
EU Commission vice-president, Frans Timmermans, tweeted that the government had decided to make a change to allow the internal combustion engine to continue beyond 2035.

These governments will just continue to push it down to the next generation, they will rebrand it and call it eFuels, the cost of renovating factories will bankrupt most major car manufacturers so this will be done over decades.

Battery technology is lagging behind, until it catches up, gas will be king.

They said the same thing a decade ago, that narrative has been talked about for decades, Nothing will change. At least not for the foreseeable future. What “reliable” renewable energy sources are you referring too ? The fact of the matter is that there is no energy source as reliable and efficient as oil. Do you really believe the world will automatically switch over to green energy at the drop of a hat, we’d be having blackouts every few hours.
It's different now. People are serious and are spending billions on renewable energy
With a growth rate of 3.8, the days of oil will be completely over by the end of this century
And not as you said, everything will not happen in an instant, but rather it will be gradual Cars, ships, then electricity until there is complete reliance on it
As I said before, why do you think Saudi Arabia is building all this? Because they know they have to hurry to make their country an industrial and commercial center before the days of oil are over
as for the rest of your statement, sounds like your a bit cut that Somalia is moving on and developing. Let me guess you’re a separatist that wants to see Somalia in a perpetual circle of violence, in order to further your own political ambitions. Get in line bud, we got a whole list of enemies that wish to see us fall again, your not special in that regard.
I have no problem with Somalia's development
But I would rather be in my corner, controlling my affairs than be an oppressed minority
It's 33 years there's no place to go back to

We will see, but the most important thing before you talk about extracting oil is: Do you have a state that controls its land or tribes?

Somalia will be a very different country by 2050, there is no gurantee that it will still be in conflict. Somalia never had much potential for agriculture so importing is fine since we can focus on other industries, just look at Egypt and many other countries that import their food. Water is easily taken care of with the two rivers we own and the water stored underground.

It will all be a large undertaking but Somalia has plenty of avenues for success with the right leadership and educated populace.

I feel like you are being too optimistic if we did have that high amount of potential oil reserves one of the heavy weights such as Shell, Exxon, Chevron would have explored the region not NPCs like Genel Energy and Coastline Exploration.

All of the heavyweights are already contracted to do exploration and drilling projects in Somalia. Its our people with their petty bickering that has prevented the Somali oil industry from being a reality for the last 40+ years, but the interest was always there;

Shell, Exxon eye return to Somalia ahead of oil block round

The likes of Dahabshiil, Hormuud or even the FGS should be having their own mini-exploration companies with seismic, exploration and drilling expertise so that they could benefit from eventually selling their blocks to the heavyweights for billions in signing fees on the front-end and trillions on the back-end over the next 50 years.

On a serious note tho, you niggaz can’t even share a country. How do you expect to share oil? :reallymaury:

I’m starting to understand why Somalia was destroyed its failure to understand the fabric of each group. You kids

if Puntland also join Somaliland and request indepence Somali does not exist. The rest of the country is controlled by foreign forces or alshabab
Lol no, Mogadishu and southern-central states are wealthier than Puntland.

The world only takes Mogadishu seriously. They don't care for other Somali states. Imagine if Mogadishu decides to completely cut trade, aid, your banks and flight zone. The north would be finished wallahi.
