You're 100% right in that her personal life does not reflect Islam, but I think you would agree that she is the best known and most influential Muslim in the States. For better or worse, people will see her and associate her with the religion. Like I alluded to earlier, there is a difference between perception and reality, and while as per our deen we should assume that she is clear of the accusations about her, politics is all about perception, which is often enough to instantly change public mood and opinion.

I'm not sure if you read the remainder of the thread which included further numbers and arguments as to why she needed the Somali vote to win, including sources for those claims.

It was the truth and not flattery when I said that agree with a lot of what you say, but the way Ilhan Omar has dealt with the past two years isn't one of them. I concur that attacking her serves the interests of racists and Islamophobes, but I would also challenge you on how she has improved the day-to-day lives of Muslims/Somalis/Immigrants/Americans in general, and her constituents, Muslim and non-Muslim, in particular

I’m not from Minnesota so I wouldn’t know but most of the accusations thrown at her in this thread are untrue. For instance she has spoken about Kenya’s encroachment in Somalia’s dealings. Not sure what else she can do about this since Somali men have been selling our land to many nefarious characters. She has spoken out against climate change which will impact third world sub-Saharan countries the most. She has spoken out against trumps racism against the Somali community and the Muslim community. She is on the right side of history in her comments against Saudi and Israel regardless of whether you think it’s the right approach or not.

America is not a theocracy so save the virginity tests for Saudi Arabia. Muslim men in power have been known to have multiple affairs, some of them with other men! The only time the private life of a Muslim is brought up is when it’s a Muslim woman who is running for power in a country where religion and the state are separated in the constitution

True, Somalis hate on other Somalis due to various reasons. They may not like her political views but at least she’s raising awareness for the suffering happening in the Ummah.

Although the media doesn't portray her as the most competent individual because of her background. I do give her credit for condemning actions of world leaders a few Somali leaders ignore. How some people think she can be a state representative and should only favour Somalis in a western nation ludicrous (& I don't mean she should throw away her identity).
