Musa gives Ethiopia a port and a military base on the Gulf of Aden. It's over

The Turkish naval staff deployed to the Gulf of Aden, Somali territorial waters and the Arabian Sea will see their mandate end on Feb. 10, but President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Monday sent a motion to extend the mandate for another year to the Turkish Parliament.
We're coping so hard :mjcry:

Yeah bro sorry quotes got messed up, didn’t mean to frame u😂😂

@Hilmaam how are they way ahead of us, in stability sure but what else?
Somaliland and puntland both ahead of fgs and the rest of FMS in my opinion. They have peace, finished constitution, election by the people, a lot more robust tax collection system, somalilnd has biggest biggest port within Somalia.

FGS has long way to go. Unfinished constitution, lack of safety, terrorist grouos and foreigners on the ground, most govt workers not even safe in capital and are behind fortress in calanley. Hard to have credibility and say fgs has something to offer somaliland when it has so much going against it

Peace? Somaliland only has control of three cities. The rest is controlled by clan militas. Mogadishu alone also makes more money than anywhere in SL.

Somaliland far form perfect but it’s hard to compare FGS and south to it. There a reason our government in a bunker in xamar

Ethiopia was set on using SL for access to the sea for a while

It could’ve been a great project benefitting the people in the SL and K5 region but they decided to be cheeky with the Navy base.
To be fair to Ethiopia, why would they invest that much of their own resources without some kind of leverage?

Am jealous and envy the Ethiopian and Eritrean leaders walhy. So visionary and work so hard to achieve and develop their country and also be independent from the west. Unlike us cursed with leaders that their words don’t align with their actions

The Somali government has made such a big scene that it looks to the US like they are not focusing on the only thing that matters to them which is the insurgency and keeping that contained.

While it may have some indirect effects, the MoU isn't directly related to the fight against insurgents and besides, Ethiopia will have heard this argument privately immediately after it announced the MoU but they are still pushing ahead.

John Kirby, director of strategic communications for the National Security Council, told VOA that Washington was working with partners in the region — including the African Union and the eight-member Intergovernmental Authority on Development trade bloc — to push against the nonbinding memorandum of understanding, which Somalia's government, headquartered in Mogadishu, sees as illegitimate.

Yeah this deal is dead.
