My Hooyo remembers clearly when she and her family were kicked out of the capital they worked so hard to build, only for it to be destroyed. The houses they owned in Xamar can’t even be sold even though it belongs to them legally. The northerns left their homes to build the south, only to be kicked out and killed. Now that they built up the north, they want unity?:bell:

My family is doing well in Bosaso, and I don’t want to be controlled by people who can’t even get their shit together. I’m all down for unity, but I’m not down for a half hearted cry that doesn’t have any backings to it.

In Bosaso you can find all Qabils, because even though we were done dirty, we still care about our people.

Someone outside of Somalia wants a dictatorship central government so they can turn the country into Congo.

We are federal and the central government needs to be a solid government that can help its federal states meet thier Vision and contribution to the whole of Somalia.
If you want a dictator go move to Congo.

Somalia always has been balkanised. The entire Kacaan era was just masking the clan divisions that already existed, because somalis have never been united ever.
why can't you unite then?

you are an insignificant people in the edge of Africa dividing yourself further will weaken you man

@lalayariis not all Northerners were kicked out. If you were Isaaq you were safe in Mogadishu in the civil war. For example, I own a farm in Lower Shabelle it is looked after by an HY man that has lived there since the 90s. Also during the exodus, if you were Isaaq you were given a free passage to the main road to Beledweyne via Gashaamo then to Somaliland if you were Darood though indeed you would be killed. Don't listen to the propaganda spitted out by the Lander kids in here the only time it was dangerous to be an Isaaq in Mogadishu was under Siad Bare.

Buddy it’s a called a civil war for a reason.

The entire country exploded. 5million neefs couldn’t find peace together.

There were nomads who grazed far away from the nacaasnimo and didn’t even hear or see the war.

I remember of a story where a Geeljire didn’t hear of a war, didn’t here about a president, Nor did he even know where Mogadishu was.

Keep in mind this is in the North, where nothing was built and urbanization didn’t exists back then.

Many people are against Federalism and it’s because it has pulled power from a central authority.

Touché, I only really have the perspective of my parents and close relatives who are all Darood and from the north. My Hooyo to this day will never ever set foot in the south, and only flies through Hargeisa and then drives to Bosaso even though it is less convenient.

By the way, she said Somalilanders are nice and they instantly recognized she was reer Bari when she said walaalo instead of walaal. They were about to rip her off, but instead instantly let her get on the plane.:icon lol:

@Abdalla do you see any possible political scenario under which Puntland would ever seriously entertain secessionism and declare its independence?

I ask because it seems like PL has met all requirements of a sovereign state and clearly acts as one. Why not make the final push, say after more state democratization and elections are held?

Don't believe the clueless @World who said the hardliners are only found on the forums. Faroole was a stone-cold hardliner that stood for a full autonomy with his 'Puntland aayahada haga tashato/Puntland will decide her own fate'. The former Warsan speaker of the Puntland Parliament said during the 17th anniversary of Puntland that we stood for Somalia and invested money, energy, time, blood and expertise in Somalia and it's time to reflect. He received a huge applause. Everyone with an ounce of intellect understands what he was saying. So to say that there are no secessionists at the top leadership is a nonsense.

However, actively seeking secession while the rest wants to remain in the union is dangerous. On top of our interestes in the south, like Kismayo, what else is stopping seeking full fledged secession is that we would spill blood for it. If would be alright if we were flipflopping clans, or clans that would turn a blind eye on reality. We are not like Dhulbahante or the Hawiyes that houses different people with opposing ideologies. A secular hawiye would have shaah and rent a house to an alshabab Hawiye. The Majeerteens would slaughter each other until theres a clear winner. Isaaqs and Marehan are similar to us in the sense that they don't tolerate dissidents within the token path of beesha

Autonomy is the token strategy for beesha as it satisfies all fractions.

Maya inabti I was just correcting a common misconception spread by Lander kids here who portray Mogadishu as the "bogeyman". Yes the reer Bari baayo/boowe accent is easily recognizable.

@Deactivated federalism is good to have safe spaces but it seems Somalis overdo it as usual like everything else.

It’s a qabdharan. But it’s ours.

What works for others may not work for us.

If it’s competitive Federalism then that’s what we will take.

It just makes it more difficult for foreigners to Qaas Somalia. It’s like herding cats.

Federalism protects Somalia and deludes the powers of foreign interests.

Ain't that the opposite. Without a strong central government, it is easier to bribe the mamuul goboleeds as we have seen so far. Federalism has its positives and negatives.

It just waste money for the Foreigners.

Federalism exhausts foreigners.

A strong central government should back the vision of its federal states and layout a path for them to achieve a vision.

If some old guys want to become the next dictator then it's 91 all over again.

So the only two options are giving federal states unlimited power to do what they want, or a dictatorship?

Foreign policy and defense should belong to the FGS, everything else is debatable. I would include airports, ports, and other national assets as well.

Stop calling your bullshit federalism when it's not! There is no country in the world that has this fantasy system that you're proposing.

What is the vision for Somalia.

Have you ever noticed don't have a vision 2020, 2030, 2040 or 2050 from the central government.

These odays can't forget 91.

What if the central government doesn't represent my interests well? Puntlands interests lies with UAE, but SFG sided with Qatar. Dont even deny that it sided with Qatar, but tell us what Puntland should've done?
