What if the central government doesn't represent my interests well? Puntlands interests lies with UAE, but SFG sided with Qatar. Dont even deny that it sided with Qatar, but tell us what Puntland should've done?

Puntland nationalism is not at an all time high. Gaas had to literally fire his entire PR team after they sided with Farmaajo. Farmaajo is significantly more popular than Gaas in Puntland. Puntland leaders can only win against the FGS Somalia president when he's Hawyie. Farmaajo is Darood, and is much more charismatic than Gaas, who tends to give off an arrogant vibe in his public speeches, not to mention his distasteful level of obesity in a country where most people have trouble feeding themselves.

Federalism can spawn a central government, but a central government cannot force federalism to cease to exist. The thirteen colonies created what is now America, and only after each state ratified it did the government gain control.

I can imagine why Somaliland and Puntland don’t want to be apart of a weak central government which hasn’t even changed much after its collapse.

There needs to be mass regional development, and an incentive for all the regions to want to be together again.

Suttering is not such a big issue. Many great leaders have had a little trouble with stuttering (e.g. George VI, Barack Obama). Farmaajo is a great public speaker and he connects very well with the people which is why he became president. His stutter is only an issue when he reads off a paper, and this is a problem with many Somali politicians.

As for Belgium, it’s federal model is unique in the world and very complex. I don’t think it’s transferable to Somalia in any meaningful way. First, Somalia is one of the world’s poorest countries while Belgium is very rich. Therefore the cost of maintaining a complex federal system where sub-states duplicate roles can be handled in Belgium, but Somalia will need to rely on an economy of scale when it comes to these matters. Second, political elites and institutions are much more mature in Belgium which is why they can handle this system, which is not the case in Somalia. Sub-state leaders will readily sell away the country to foreign powers if left unchecked. Third, Belgium operates in a benign political environment, surrounded by its EU allies. It doesn’t matter if Flanders and Wallonia send separate delegations to multilateral such as these, at the end of the day the EU will not screw Belgium over. It’s much more dangerous to let sub-states do their own bidding in Somalia as the country is surrounded by hostile states.

Once the Federal Government drafts its constitution and has a reliable military and navy, hopefully by the end of 2019, Puntland will also adhere to the same laws as the rest of the states of Somalia.
